Book Description
Flotation has become one of the most important techniques available for mineral processing. This work provides a unique and authoritative review of sulphide mineral collector properties, their manufacture and use with specific ores. Special emphasis is placed on the different flotation mechanisms involved in particle capture of sulphide and non-sulphide minerals and the effect of antagonal mechanisms on reagent selection. The author provides details, some previously unpublished, of the chemical properties, manufacture methods and possible surface active impurities of commercial collectors and frothers. In addition the chemical composition of a broad number of North American and European commercial reagent designations are listed. Ore sampling, sample preparation, testing machines and routines are covered as practical guides to mine laboratory staff. Suggestions to testing procedures, equipment selection and graphical data evaluation methods to multivariable problems are provided.

Excerpt from Testing for the Flotation Process To those who have contributed to the useful ness of this book, I express my extreme indebted ness. The work of O. C. Ralston and Glen L. Allen has been frequently referred to and the material of Chapter VI is largely taken from their invaluable article, Testing Ores for the Flotation Process. I am especially indebted to my wife who has made this compilation possible by her aid in preparing the manuscript. The Flotation Treatment of a New Mexico Zinc Ore
Flotation Tests of Idaho Ores (Classic Reprint)
Author: Clarence A. Wright

ISBN: 9780483118638
Category : Technology & Engineering

Pages : 90
Book Description
Excerpt from Flotation Tests of Idaho Ores In view of the fact that it has been difficult to obtain representative samples of flotation feed from the mills, owing to the necessity of shipping the material wet and free from oil or other foreign matter that might be deleterious to the differential separation of the sul phides, the writers have felt justified in running flotation tests with the mill feeds in order to ascertain whether a differential separation of the sulphides could be effected. However, two different lots of flotation feed were tested for differential flotation, and the results of tests of one of these are given in this report. It is hoped that it will be possible later to test out the flotation feed for differential flota tion oni'a large scale in some of the mills. This paper covers part of the investigations carried on by the United States Bureau of Mines in cooperation with the Idaho Bureau of Mines, the University of Idaho, and certain mining companies of the Coeur d'alene region. Although the results of the tests included in this report are not to be considered final, they indicate possibili ties and may suggest others leading to a solution of the problem of separating lead and zinc sulphides by differential flotation in the treatment of certain ores.
