Temperature-Programmed Gas Chromatography

Temperature-Programmed Gas Chromatography PDF Author: Leonid M. Blumberg
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527632263
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 363

Book Description
This book provides a comprehensive up-to-date overview of temperature-programmed gas chromatography (GC). The first part of the book introduces the reader to the basics concepts of GC, as well as the key properties of GC columns. The second part describes the mathematical and physical background of GC. In the third part, different aspects in the formation of a chromatogram are discussed, including retention times, peak spacing and peak widths. An invaluable reference for any chromatographer and analytical chemist, it provides all the answers to questions like: At what temperature does a solute elute in a temperature-programmed analysis? What is the value of the retention factor of eluting solute? How wide are the peaks? How large is the time distance between two peaks? How do all these parameters depend on the heating rate?

Split and Splitless Injection for Quantitative Gas Chromatography

Split and Splitless Injection for Quantitative Gas Chromatography PDF Author: Konrad Grob
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527612882
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 480

Book Description
This comprehensive and unique handbook of split and splitless injection techniques has been completely revised and updated. This new edition offers: - New insights concerning sample evaporation in the injector - Information about matrix effects - A new chapter on injector design The real processes within the injector are for the first time visualized and explained by the CD-ROM included in the book. Furthermore the reader will understand the concepts of injection techniques and get a knowledge of the sources of error. The handbook also includes many practical guidelines. From reviews of former editions: "This substantial book is on injection techniques alone, which ... demonstrates this can have many pitfalls ... no one should be allowed to direct a laboratory doing quantitative analysis by GC without first being thoroughly familar with this book ..." The Analyst "This is a detailed reference volume filled with practical suggestions and techniques for managing split and splitless injection in the day-to-day world of the working gas chromatographer. It will be useful ... for anyone who must work hands-on with GC." Journal of High Resolution Chromatography

Rapid Temperature Programming and Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography

Rapid Temperature Programming and Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography PDF Author: Ronald R. Goforth
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Gas chromatography
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
A system has been developed whereby a pyrogram may be obtained for each separated component in a gas chromatographic effluent. These pyrograms may be used for "fingerprint" identifications of the peaks on a chromatogram. During the development of this system the characteristics of a low- pressure-drop packed column were examined as well as gas phase pyrolysis and rapid temperature programming. Linear temperature programming with program rates up to 400°C per minute was developed and used with a wide range of carrier gas flow rates. Retention temperatures predicted from isothermal data were verified. The importance of correc tly specifying the flow rate during rapid temperature programming became apparent during the investigation when predicted retention temperatures were otherwise less than the experimentally observed values. Pyrolyzer design for gas phase pyrolysis was considered. The temperature profile for a tubular pyrolyzer was examined experimentally. The effects of temperature and residence time on gas phase pyrolysis were studied using several hydrocarbons.
