CRC Handbook of Tables for Applied Engineering Science

CRC Handbook of Tables for Applied Engineering Science PDF Author: Ray E. Bolz
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351838423
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1184

Book Description
New tables in this edition cover lasers, radiation, cryogenics, ultra-sonics, semi-conductors, high-vacuum techniques, eutectic alloys, and organic and inorganic surface coating. Another major addition is expansion of the sections on engineering materials and compos-ites, with detailed indexing by name, class and usage. The special Index of Properties allows ready comparisons with respect to single property, whether physical, chemical, electrical, radiant, mechani-cal, or thermal. The user of this book is assisted by a comprehensive index, by cross references and by numerically keyed subject headings at the top of each page. Each table is self-explanatory, with units, abbreviations, and symbols clearly defined and tabular material subdivided for easy reading.

Problems of mixed mode crack propagation

Problems of mixed mode crack propagation PDF Author: E.E. Gdoutos
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400961898
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 214

Book Description
This is not just another book on fracture mechanics. In recent years, there have been many books published on this subject in an attempt to assess the state of the art and its applications. The majority of the work dealt with energy release rate or critical stress intensity factor and is applicable only to fracture toughness testing. The main reason for this restriction is that the energy release concept cannot easily be extended to mixed mode fracture that occurs in practice as the rule rather than the exception. Cracks will normally curve or turn because the direction of loading can change as a function of time. Their directions of growth cannot be assumed as an a priori and must be determined from a pre-assumed criterion. Analysts are still perplexed with selecting an appropriate fracture criterion because it requires much discernment and judgement. Criteria which often appeared valid for idealized situations are quickly dis credited when encountering more complex physical phenomena. Moreover, the claim of generality cannot be justified on the basis of agreement between theory and experiment for a few simple examples.

Materials Properties Handbook

Materials Properties Handbook PDF Author: Gerhard Welsch
Publisher: ASM International
ISBN: 9780871704818
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1206

Book Description
Comprehensive datasheets on more than 60 titanium alloys More than 200 pages on metallurgy and fabrication procedures Input from more than 50 contributors from several countries Careful editorial review for accuracy and usefulness. Materials Properties Handbook: Titanium Alloys provides a data base for information on titanium and its alloys, and the selection of specific alloys for specific applications. The most comprehensive titanium data package ever assembled provides extensive information on applications, physical properties, corrosion, mechanical properties (including design allowances where available), fatigue, fracture properties, and elevated temperature properties. The appropriate specifications for each alloy are included. This international effort has provided a broad information base that has been compiled and reviewed by leading experts within the titanium industry, from several countries, encompassing numerous technology areas. Inputs have been obtained from the titanium industry, fabricators, users, government and academia. This up-to-date package covers information from almost the inception of the titanium industry, in the 1950s, to mid-1992. The information, organized by alloy, makes this exhaustive collection an easy-to-use data base at your fingertips, which generally includes all the product forms for each alloy. The 60-plus data sheets supply not only extensive graphical and tabular information on properties, but the datasheets also describe or illustrate important factors which would aid in the selection of the proper alloy or heat treatment. The datasheets are further supplemented with back-ground information on the metallurgy and fabrication characteristics of titanium alloys. An especially extensive coverage of properties, processing and metallurgy is provided in the datasheet for the workhorse of the titanium industry, Ti-6Al-4V. This compendium includes the newest alloys made public. even those still under development. In many cases, key references are included for further information on a given subject. Comprehensive datasheets provide extensive information on: Applications, Specifications, Corrosion, Mechanical Design Properties, Fatigue and Fracture

Analysis and Performance of Fiber Composites

Analysis and Performance of Fiber Composites PDF Author: Bhagwan D. Agarwal
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119389976
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 584

Book Description
Updated and expanded coverage of the latest trends and developments in fiber composite materials, processes, and applications Analysis and Performance of Fiber Composites, Fourth Edition features updated and expanded coverage of all technical aspects of fiber composites, including the latest trends and developments in materials, manufacturing processes, and materials applications, as well as the latest experimental characterization methods. Fiber reinforced composite materials have become a fundamental part of modern product manufacturing. Routinely used in such high-tech fields as electronics, automobiles, aircraft, and space vehicles, they are also essential to everyday staples of modern life, such as containers, piping, and appliances. Little wonder, when one considers their ease of fabrication, outstanding mechanical properties, design versatility, light weight, corrosion and impact resistance, and excellent fatigue strength. This Fourth Edition of the classic referencethe standard text for composite materials courses, worldwideoffers an unrivalled review of such an important class of engineering materials. Still the most comprehensive, up-to-date treatment of the mechanics, materials, performance, analysis, fabrication, and characterization of fiber composite materials available, Analysis and Performance of Fiber Composites, Fourth Edition features: Expanded coverage of materials and manufacturing, with additional information on materials, processes, and material applications Updated and expanded information on experimental characterization methodsincluding many industry specific tests Discussions of damage identification techniques using nondestructive evaluation (NDE) Coverage of the influence of moisture on performance of polymer matrix composites, stress corrosion of glass fibers and glass reinforced plastics, and damage due to low-velocity impact New end-of-chapter problems and exercises with solutions found on an accompanying website Computer analysis of laminates No other reference provides such exhaustive coverage of fiber composites with such clarity and depth.
