Book Description
This book is one of a series of books about an ostrich, named Ollie, who is adopted by a family of bluebirds. Beyond that, it is a set of stories inspired by the life of my brother who is also adopted. Where the stories may be perceived as a view of adoption or accepting our differences, I find they are more like lessons of love. In this story we find Mommy Bluebird trying to teach Ollie Ostrich how to fly. This would be natural for a mommy bluebird to do but flying is something that an ostrich can not do. There are times in our lives we encounter obstacles we just do not have the ability to overcome but this does not lower the value of who we are. Mrs. Bluebird teaches Ollie the far better lesson that he is loved whether he can fly or not. Ollie then teaches Mrs. Bluebird that, although he can't fly, he can succeed in other ways.
