Tautomerism

Tautomerism PDF Author: Liudmil Antonov
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 352765884X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 390

Book Description
Covering the gap between basic textbooks and over-specialized scientific publications, this is the first reference available to describe this interdisciplinary topic for PhD students and scientists starting in the field. The result is an introductory description providing suitable practical examples of the basic methods used to study tautomeric processes, as well as the theories describing the tautomerism and proton transfer phenomena. It also includes different spectroscopic methods for examining tautomerism, such as UV-VIs, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, and NMR spectroscopy, plus the theoretical and practical background information. With its excellent overview of the methods, theories and examples, this is the perfect guide for any scientist dealing with tautomeric compounds in a wider context.

Pages : 400

Book Description
Reflecting the substantially increased interest in tautomerism, this book demonstrates the transformation of fundamental knowledge into novel concepts and the latest applications. Each chapter introduces the theoretical background, before reviewing and critically discussing the experimental techniques and corresponding applications. Special emphasis is placed on tautomerism under unusual conditions, such as in supramolecular solids and at surfaces, displaying the wide scope between basic research and timely applications.

Ring-Chain Tautomerism

Ring-Chain Tautomerism PDF Author: Raimonds Valters
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468448838
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 285

Book Description
After studying ring-chain tautomerism of keto ami des and related derivatives of functionalized carboxylic acids for more than ten years, the authors consider it useful to summarize available results on these prototropic equilibria. First attempts to systematize the material were published by Jones in 1963 (Chapter 1, ref. 11). Much, sometimes contradictory, experimental data were scattered about the literature at that time; spectroscopic methods, applied to this field during the last two decades, were needed to revise several previous concepts. In the following years special aspects of ring-chain tautomerism have been discussed occasionally, but no attempt was previously made to cover the whole field. This review is designed to provide a comprehensive compilation of ring-chain tautomerism with one exception: carbohydrates which have already been treated repeatedly, have been omitted. The book is based on a monograph published in Russian: R. E. Valters, Ring-Chain Isomerism in Organic Chemistry. Zinatne. Riga, 1978. There fore, the arrangement and development of the theme is due mainly to one of the authors (R.E.Y.). In the present work the literature has been covered until the end of 1982.

Book Description
Biochemistry: The Chemical Reactions of Living Cells is a well-integrated, up-to-date reference for basic biochemistry, associated chemistry, and underlying biological phenomena. Biochemistry is a comprehensive account of the chemical basis of life, describing the amazingly complex structures of the compounds that make up cells, the forces that hold them together, and the chemical reactions that allow for recognition, signaling, and movement. This book contains information on the human body, its genome, and the action of muscles, eyes, and the brain. It also features: thousands of literature references that provide introduction to current research as well as historical background; twice the number of chapters of the first edition; and each chapter contains boxes of information on topics of general interest. -- Publisher description.

Brenner's Encyclopedia of Genetics

Brenner's Encyclopedia of Genetics PDF Author: Stanley Maloy
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0080961568
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 4360

Book Description
The explosion of the field of genetics over the last decade, with the new technologies that have stimulated research, suggests that a new sort of reference work is needed to keep pace with such a fast-moving and interdisciplinary field. Brenner's Encyclopedia of Genetics, Second Edition, Seven Volume Set, builds on the foundation of the first edition by addressing many of the key subfields of genetics that were just in their infancy when the first edition was published. The currency and accessibility of this foundational content will be unrivalled, making this work useful for scientists and non-scientists alike. Featuring relatively short entries on genetics topics written by experts in that topic, Brenner's Encyclopedia of Genetics, Second Edition, Seven Volume Set provides an effective way to quickly learn about any aspect of genetics, from Abortive Transduction to Zygotes. Adding to its utility, the work provides short entries that briefly define key terms, and a guide to additional reading and relevant websites for further study. Many of the entries include figures to explain difficult concepts. Key terms in related areas such as biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology are also included, and there are entries that describe historical figures in genetics, providing insights into their careers and discoveries. This 7-volume set represents a 25% expansion from the first edition, with over 1600 articles encompassing this burgeoning field Thoroughly up-to-date, with many new topics and subfields covered that were in their infancy or not inexistence at the time of the first edition. Timely coverage of emergent areas such as epigenetics, personalized genomic medicine, pharmacogenetics, and genetic enhancement technologies Interdisciplinary and global in its outlook, as befits the field of genetics Brief articles, written by experts in the field, which not only discuss, define, and explain key elements of the field, but also provide definition of key terms, suggestions for further reading, and biographical sketches of the key people in the history of genetics
