The Navy's Carrier Battle Groups (CBG) have traditionally supported the national defense strategy by providing overseas presence and a crisis response capability. This report discusses the policy, operational, and force structure aspects of CBG and provides possible alternatives for meeting national security requirements with fewer carriers.
