The illustrations were made directly from dissections prepared by the author and drawn with great accuracy under my supervision by Mr. Martin Peterson of the Anatomical Department, Columbia Univer sity Medical School. None of the drawings are schematic but represent anatomy from a practical standpoint, showing the relation of parts to their natural surroundings and to the head as a whole. Owing to their accuracy, and their instructiveness and scientific interest they should have permanent worth, and this is the main reason for presenting the studies in book form. There are practical points in treatment which are new and novel based on natural physical laws and common sense, the value of posture in the treat ment Of otitis media and mastoiditis being one of particular interest.
