An Introduction to Ultrathin Organic Films
Author: Abraham Ulman
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0080926312
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 468
Book Description
The development of oriented organic monomolecular layers by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and self-assembly (SA) techniques has led researchers toward their goal of assembling individual molecules into highly ordered architectures. Thus the continually growing contribution of LB and SA systems to the chemistry and physics of thin organic films is widely recognized. Equally well-known is the difficulty in keeping up to date with the burgeoning multidisciplinary research in this area. Dr. Ulman provides a massive survey of the available literature. The book begins with a section on analytical tools to broaden the understanding of the structure and properties of monolayers and films. Following sections discuss LB films, the preparation and properties of SA monolayers and films, the modeling of LB and SA monolayers, and the application of LB and SA films.

ISBN: 9783659375460
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 132
Book Description
The book briefly presents a review on the understanding of polymer thin films, their preparation, characterization and analysis. The first chapter deals with an overview and basic concepts of polymer science. The second chapter deals with the preparation and characterization techniques such as spin coating and x-ray reflectivity. The third and fourth presents analysis and discussion on structure and swelling dynamics of ultra-thin polymeric films. The book will be useful as reference text for research scholars and teaching courses on polymer thin films.

Organized Organic Ultrathin Films
Author: Katsuhiko Ariga
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527654682
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 329
Book Description
This handy reference is the first comprehensive book covering both fundamentals and recent developments in the field with an emphasis on nanotechnology. Written by a highly regarded author in the field, the book details state-of-the-art preparation, characterization and applications of thin films of organic molecules and biomaterials fabricated by wet processes and also highlights applications in nanotechnology The categories of films covered include monomolecular films (monolayers) both on a water surface and on a solid plate, Langmuir-Blodgett films (transferred multilayer films on a solid plate from a water surface), layer-by-layer films (adsorbed multilayer films on a solid support), and spontaneously assembled films in solution.

Surface Structure and Dynamics of Organic Thin Films
Author: James Steven Becker
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781124717265
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 208
Book Description
This thesis explores the surface structure and vibrational dynamics of organic thin films using the surface-sensitive and non-destructive helium atom scattering technique. The interfacial dynamics of thin polymer films and organic-semiconductor hybrid interfaces are examined here with the goals of determining the surfaces' ability to accommodate collisional energy, the threshold film thickness at which the surface differs from the bulk or underlying substrate, and the structure and ordering of novel hybrid interfaces. Time-of-flight spectroscopy, helium atom diffraction and Debye-Waller attenuation of elastic peak intensities form the majority of the experiments performed here to measure the properties of interest.
