Reservoir Characterization

Reservoir Characterization PDF Author: Larry Lake
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323143512
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 680

Book Description
Reservoir Characterization is a collection of papers presented at the Reservoir Characterization Technical Conference, held at the Westin Hotel-Galleria in Dallas on April 29-May 1, 1985. Conference held April 29-May 1, 1985, at the Westin Hotel—Galleria in Dallas. The conference was sponsored by the National Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Reservoir characterization is a process for quantitatively assigning reservoir properties, recognizing geologic information and uncertainties in spatial variability. This book contains 19 chapters, and begins with the geological characterization of sandstone reservoir, followed by the geological prediction of shale distribution within the Prudhoe Bay field. The subsequent chapters are devoted to determination of reservoir properties, such as porosity, mineral occurrence, and permeability variation estimation. The discussion then shifts to the utility of a Bayesian-type formalism to delineate qualitative ""soft"" information and expert interpretation of reservoir description data. This topic is followed by papers concerning reservoir simulation, parameter assignment, and method of calculation of wetting phase relative permeability. This text also deals with the role of discontinuous vertical flow barriers in reservoir engineering. The last chapters focus on the effect of reservoir heterogeneity on oil reservoir. Petroleum engineers, scientists, and researchers will find this book of great value.

Annual Energy Outlook 2016 With Projections to 2040

Annual Energy Outlook 2016 With Projections to 2040 PDF Author: Energy Dept., Energy Information Administration
Publisher: Government Printing Office
ISBN: 9780160934827
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 260

Book Description
The Annual Energy Outlook 2016 presents long-term projections of energy supply, demand, and prices through 2040. The projections, focused on U.S. energy markets, are based on results from EIA's National Energy Modeling System which enables EIA to make projections under alternative, internally consistent sets of assumptions.

Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources

Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources PDF Author: Usman Ahmed
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1498759416
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 862

Book Description
As the shale revolution continues in North America, unconventional resource markets are emerging on every continent. In the next eight to ten years, more than 100,000 wells and one- to two-million hydraulic fracturing stages could be executed, resulting in close to one trillion dollars in industry spending. This growth has prompted professionals ex

Interior Cratonic Basins

Interior Cratonic Basins PDF Author: Morris Wellman Leighton
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 854

Book Description
A detailed overview of the Illinois basin is followed by less detailed reviews of six other selected interior cratonic basins: the Williston, Michigan, Baltic, Paris, Parana, and Carpentaria basins. The goal is to develop a better understanding of the basin-forming, basin-filling, and basin-modifying processes that control hydrocarbon plays and resultant oil and gas fields in this class of basins. The idea is to describe and document the variations, opportunities, and exploration problems that can be expected.

Characterization and Modeling of Carbonates

Characterization and Modeling of Carbonates PDF Author: Alex J. MacNeil
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781565763524
Category : Carbonate reservoirs
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
In August of 2015 the first Mountjoy Carbonate Conference, co-hosted by the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) and Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG), took place in Banff, Alberta. As the approaches to characterization and modeling of carbonate reservoirs are undergoing rapid changes, this was the theme of the meeting. This Special Publication, following the inaugural meeting, contains nine state-of-the art papers relating to the (1) characterization of carbonates and advances in analytical methods, (2) controls on carbonate reservoir quality and recovery factors, and (3) reservoir distribution, the modeling of dolostone geobodies, and reservoir prediction. The Introduction includes an overview of Eric Mountjoy's career and his many contributions to the science. The contents of this Special Publication should be useful to those engaged in the characterization and modeling of carbonate reservoirs, including unconventional carbonate reservoirs, and is highly recommended as one of the most impactful recent publications for those working in this area of sedimentary science.
