Book Description
Equations are derived for the stress distributions caused by three types of loading on infinitely long, circular, semimonocoque cylinders with flexible rings. These external loads can be said to lie in the sheet-stringer surface of the cylinder; that is, they have no radial components. The results, given as formulas for the stringer loads and shear flows in the shell, are of use in the stress analysis of circular semimonocoque cylinders with cutouts. In order to facilitate this application, the formulas can be used to construct tables of influence coefficients giving stringer loads and shear flows in the neighborhood of each particular external load due to a unit magnitude of that load.

Stress Analysis of Circular Semimonocoque Cylinders with Cutouts by a Perturbation Load Technique
Author: Harvey G. McComb
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Cylinders
Languages : en
Pages : 48
Book Description
A method is presented for analyzing the stresses about a cutout in a circular cylinder of monocoque construction. The method involves the use of so-called perturbation solutions which are superposed on the stress distribution that would exist in the structure with no cutout in such a way as to give the effects of a cutout. The method can be used for any loading case for which the structure without the cutout can be analyzed and is sufficiently versatile to account for stringer and shear reinforcement about the cutout.

Mechanical Properties at Room Temperature of Four Cermets of Titanium Carbide with Nickel Binder
Author: Aldie E. Johnson
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Binders (Materials)
Languages : en
Pages : 670
Book Description
Room-temperature stress-strain curves are presented for compression, tension, and shear loadings of four compositions of titanium carbide with nickel binder. Values of ultimate strength, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rigidity, Poisson's ratio in the elastic region, density, and hardness for the four materials are tabulated.
