They are fine flavored and deliciously sweet, and will bear shipping well. Having cultivated the berry for two years, I can say that it is the best berry in existence, both for table and market - Wm. M. Valentine. In conclusion will say that my stock was grown from plants procured direct from the introducer and are strictly pure, and being grown in a rich loam they are very large, vigorous and. Well rooted plants. My plants of this variety will average at least twice as large as those sent me by the introducer last spring and are worth much more than small, poorly-rooted plants. Robison. - Was sent to me by Mr. John Little, of Ontario, Canada. It is one of the finest growers on the place. We had single leaves of this variety almost as big as your hand and not a spot of rust to be seen. I have a great deal of faith in this new berry-although I have not seen it fruit. The past season I have traveled far and near that I might see the new varieties, claimed to be of great merit, in fruit. 801116 I have found to'be as represented. And in many respects superior to anything heretofore ofiered' These have been added to my list. Other varieties of claimed importance have been found wanting and have been left out of my list. I would also draw your attention to the fact that my stock is strictly pure. Agents may tell you that because I sell stock at one-half their prices it is not true to name. But if it should be found otherwise'i will be at Salis bury, Md.; but if theirs should be badly mixed, where would yol't find the agent Echo answers, where My business is directly with the grower and I invite one and all who can do so to examine my stock. Some unscrupulous Western nurserymen. Struggling to direct trade to themselves, have been pub lishing the claims through their catalogues that Maryland stock. Or Eastern stock, is very inferior to Western grown. That claim is a lie, pure and simple, and no respectable pereomwould allow such a statement to be printed over his name. The fact is, there are good, plants and poor plants grown throughout the East, and there are good plants and poor plants grown through out the West, and the kind of plants you get depends largely on the kind of man you buy from. I have bought plants from a. Great many different sections and different men and I have almost invariably found that the man I bought from had more to do with the quality of the plants received than the section of country from which they came. Some of those Western men who have been making claims that Maryland stock is inferior to Western stock are among my largest customers, and I challenge any Western grower to produce finer, larcrer healthier and better rooted strawberry plants than I can and do grow here: d fig.
