The Divine Decision
Author: Donna Bowman
Publisher: Westminster John Knox Press
ISBN: 9780664224943
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 300
Book Description
Donna Bowman utilizes the work of process thinker Alfred North Whitehead to develop a doctrine of election that dialogues with the view of Reformed theologian Karl Barth. Taking seriously Barth's contention that election is the best of all words that can be spoken about God, Bowman reinterprets Whitehead's description of God's provision of the initial aim to each entity as the central cosmological and theological fact of universal election. By combining Barth's concerns with process categories, she concludes that both systems are aimed at common theological and philosophical enemies.

Accelerating Human Evolution by Theosophical Initiation
Author: Yves Mühlematter
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110794799
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 447
Book Description
The main subjects of analysis in the present book are the stages of initiation in the grand scheme of Theosophical evolution. These initiatory steps are connected to an idea of evolutionary self-development by means of a set of virtues that are relative to the individual’s position on the path of evolution. The central thesis is that these stages were translated from the “Hindu” tradition to the “Theosophical” tradition through multifaceted “hybridization processes” in which several Indian members of the Theosophical Society partook. Starting with Annie Besant’s early Theosophy, the stages of initiation are traced through Blavatsky’s work to Manilal Dvivedi and T. Subba Row, both Indian members of the Theosophical Society, and then on to the Sanâtana Dharma Text Books. In 1898, the English Theosophist Annie Besant and the Indian Theosophist Bhagavan Das together founded the Central Hindu College, Benares, which became the nucleus around which the Benares Hindu University was instituted in 1915. In this context the Sanâtana Dharma Text Books were published. Mühlematter shows that the stages of initiation were the blueprint for Annie Besant’s pedagogy, which she implemented in the Central Hindu College in Benares. In doing so, he succeeds in making intelligible how “esoteric” knowledge was transferred to public institutions and how a broader public could be reached as a result. The dissertation has been awarded the ESSWE PhD Thesis prize 2022 by the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism.

Brand Yourself with Honor
Author: Clay Meadows
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1098044053
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 62
Book Description
It seems wherever you look today, people are starting a new brand, whether it be through their YouTube channels, blogs, or websites. Often, they even create their own apparel with their logos on it to sell to the public. Peoples' identities are very much tied into the brand they have created. While there is nothing wrong with this practice, the belief system in our postmodern culture has created a deep-seated confusion regarding identity, morality, and truth. This has led to a faulty worldview that is saturated with a "me mentality." People now make up what is right and wrong, and they wrap it up in a logo and market it to the world. The purpose of Brand Yourself with Honor is to bring us back to a biblical definition of what it looks like to have honor in our lives. Brand Yourself with Honor is forty-day devotional based off of 2 Peter 1:5-8, which lists seven different characteristics, such as virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love. These seven characteristics, listed by the apostle Peter, are not optional but are necessary in order to brand our lives with honor and integrity. As believers in Christ, our lives must be a testimony to the character of God. When the world sees us, it should think of Christ Jesus Himself. When we live out these seven characteristics, we will, no doubt, bring honor to His name.

Publisher: International Monetary Fund
ISBN: 1484339762
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 73
Book Description
This 2017 Article IV Consultation highlights that the fiscal adjustment in Uruguay is on track. Fiscal policy has been countercyclical in 2017, with higher income tax receipts partly offset by rising pension and health care costs. The overall deficit is estimated to decline to 3.3 percent of GDP, and the government continues to be able to access international financial markets on favorable terms, including through global nominal-peso bonds. Financial flows have remained volatile, and local and nonresident investor interest in the peso has been strong overall. The current account balance has been improving and is now in surplus, estimated to approach 2 percent of GDP in 2017.
