The book tells about the land, the people, and the development of the historic, cultural and natural site that became Quail Hollow Park in Hartville, Ohio. It begins with the early settlement of the land by native peoples, followed by settlers and their families who cleared the land for farming, passing on or selling parcels of this property to later generations. It extends through family connections to the industrial age of the early twentieth century and finally to a new era of preservation, conservation, and recreation. It includes the story of the first settler in the area named Conrad Brumbaugh and the later owner of the property, Harry Bartlett Stewart, and his family, who was founder and president of the Akron, Canton & Youngstown Railroad. It includes a history of the acquisition of the property by the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources to create a State Park, and later by Stark County Parks and Recreation that maintains it now. It also includes a description of the features, facilities and programs that have been enjoyed by visitors since 1975 when the park was established.
