National Socialist Family Law PDF Author: Mariken Lenaerts
Publisher: Martinus Nijhoff Publishers
ISBN: 9004279318
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 347

Book Description
In National Socialist Family Law, Mariken Lenaerts analyses the possible influence of National Socialism on marriage and divorce law in Germany and the Netherlands. As the family was regarded the germ-cell of the nation, the Nazis made many changes in German and Dutch marriage and divorce law to suit their purpose of a thousand-year Aryan Reich. By making extensive use of archival resources, Mariken Lenaerts gives an overview of the most important changes adopted in marriage and divorce law by the Nazis and proves that although daily marital life in both countries was highly influenced by National Socialism, marriage and divorce law did not become National Socialist. Listen to Lenaerts explaining about her project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TINKR6xKyUQ. In 2013 the book was awarded the Prix Fondation Auschwitz – Jacques Rozenberg.

The main objective of this book is to develop a general strategy to assess elimination capacity of water treatment processes for pathogens. It investigates: The potential use of faecal indicators Coli44, (including E. coli) and SSRC, (including C. perfringens) as process indicators to assess pathogen elimination in full-scale water treatment plants. The value of comparative challenge tests with pre-cultured organisms for the assessment of elimination capacity of full-scale processes, to study the effect of process conditions and to validate the use of process indicators. The use of literature data to assess elimination capacity of water treatment processes for pathogens and the effect of process conditions on this. The Early Dutch Sinologists (1854-1900)

The Early Dutch Sinologists (1854-1900) PDF Author: Koos (P.N.) Kuiper
Publisher: BRILL
ISBN: 9004339639
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 1206

Book Description
In The Early Dutch Sinologists Koos Kuiper gives a detailed account of the studies and work of the 24 Dutchmen trained as “interpreters” for the Netherlands Indies before 1900. Most began studying at Leiden University, then went to Amoy to study southern Chinese dialects. Their main functions were translating Dutch law into Chinese, advising the courts on Chinese law and checking Chinese accounts books, later also regulating coolie affairs. Actually their services were not always appreciated and there was not enough work for them; later many pursued other careers in the Indies administration or in scholarship. This study also analyses the three dictionaries they compiled. Based on a wealth of primary sources, it gives a fascinating picture of personal cross-cultural contacts.
