Handbook of Biological Dyes and Stains
Author: R. W. Sabnis
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470407530
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 542
Book Description
A COMPLETE, UP-TO-DATE RESOURCE OF INFORMATION ON MORE THAN 200 DYES AND STAINS Handbook of Biological Dyes and Stains is the most comprehensive volume available on the subject, covering all the available dyes and stains known to date in the literature for use in biology and medicine. Top dye expert Dr. Ram Sabnis organizes the compounds alphabetically by the most commonly used chemical name. He presents an easy-to-use reference complete with novel ideas for breakthrough research in medical, biological, chemical, and related fields. This is the first book to give the CAS registry number, chemical structure, Chemical Abstracts index name, all other chemical names, Merck Index number, chemical/dye class, molecular formula, molecular weight, physical form, solubility, melting point, boiling point, pH range, color change at pH, pKa, absorption, and emission maxima of dyes and stains, as well as to provide access to synthesis procedures (lab scale and industrial scale) of dyes and stains. This user-friendly handbook also features references on safety, toxicity, and adverse effects of dyes and stains on humans, animals, and the environment, including: acute/chronic toxicity aquatic toxicity carcinogenicity cytotoxicity ecotoxicity genotoxicity hepatotoxicity marine toxicity mutagenicity nephrotoxicity neurotoxicity oral toxicity phototoxicity phytotoxicity The use of biological dyes and stains has extremely high potential in today's business environment. This makes Handbook of Biological Dyes and Stains a convenient, must-have reference. Its staining, biological, and industrial applications make it a vital resource for industrial and academic researchers; the book also serves as a valuable desktop reference for medical professionals, biologists, chemists, chemical/optical engineers, physicists, materials scientists, intellectual property professionals, students, and professors.

Applications of the Voltammetry
Author: Margarita Stoytcheva
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9535132156
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 163
Book Description
The present book Applications of Voltammetry is a collection of six chapters, organized in two sections. The first book section is dedicated to the application of mathematical methods, such as multivariate calibration coupled with voltammetric data and numeric simulation to solve quantitative electroanalytical problems. The second book section is devoted to the electron transfer kinetic studies and electroanalytical applications of the voltammetry, such as interfacial electron transfer of the haem group in human haemoglobin molecules, physisorbed on glass-/tin-doped indium oxide substrates, analysis of dyes and metal ions in trace concentrations and characterization of the antioxidant properties of wine and wine products, using a variety of voltammetric techniques and electrodes. The most recent trends and advances in voltammetry are professionally commented.

Far-Field Optical Nanoscopy
Author: Philip Tinnefeld
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3662455471
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 340
Book Description
This book describes developments in the field of super-resolution fluorescence microscopy or nanoscopy. In 11 chapters, distinguished scientists and leaders in their respective fields describe different nanoscopy approaches, various labeling technologies, and concrete applications. The topics covered include the principles and applications of the most popular nanoscopy techniques STED and (f)PALM/STORM, along with advances brought about by fluorescent proteins and organic dyes optimized for fluorescence nanoscopy. Furthermore, the photophysics of fluorescent labels is addressed, specifically for improving their photoswitching capabilities. Important applications are also discussed, such as the tracking and counting of molecules to determine acting forces in cells, and quantitative cellular imaging, respectively, as well as the mapping of chemical reaction centers at the nano-scale. The 2014 Chemistry Nobel Prize® was awarded for the ground-breaking developments of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. In this book, which was co-edited by one of the prize winners, readers will find the most recent developments in this field.

Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds
Author: Miroslov Vecera
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468418335
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 417
Book Description
The American edition of our monograph is not a mere translation of the Czech edition, which appeared some five years ago. We have had to respect the fact that even such a short period has sufficed for progress in this field, and that the field of application of methods of organic analysis has widened. We have therefore revised a number of chapters in Part 1, the general part of the monograph-mainly those devoted to chromatographic methods, which have been extended and complemented by methods of thin-layer chromatography and electrophoresis. The chapters on the theory of color reactions and on analytical literature have also been extended; the chapter on spectral methods has been extended by including the use of proton magnetic resonance in organic analysis, and the list of references has been enlarged by adding books of importance for organic analysis. In Part 2, the part dealing specifically with various elements and chemical groups, we have extended the chapters on solubility and on acids and bases. The methods for the detection and identification of given classes of compounds have also been supplemented by references to recent papers.
