Dans l'infrarouge, la spectrométrie laser est à la base de nombreuses techniques extrêmement efficaces pour la détection de traces de gaz. Parmi ces techniques, la spectrométrie photoacoustique (PA) présente l'originalité de ne pas être basée sur une mesure de l'atténuation du faisceau laser à la traversée du gaz, mais sur la mesure indirecte de l'énergie absorbée par cet échantillon au moyen de l'onde acoustique générée par l'échauffement du gaz. Cette technique présente de nombreux avantages en terme de robustesse et de dynamique de mesure. Un modèle basé sur la FEM a permis de compléter les études précédentes sur la modélisation de cuves PA suivant leur taille et d'améliorer la prédiction des limites de détection attendues.Cependant, dans des conditions particulières (nature du mélange de gaz ou présence d'impuretés), le signal PA peut parfois présenter une variation non-linéaire en fonction de la concentration du gaz visé, limitant l'intérêt pour la détection de gaz. L'étude des problématiques de la détection de molécules gazeuses par spectrométrie laser PA lorsque le signal PA n'est pas proportionnel à la concentration de gaz a donc été réalisée. Dans un premier temps, l'étude de la relaxation de molécules de dioxyde de carbone a été réalisée démontrant un très bon accord entre les valeurs expérimentales issues de la littérature et les simulations réalisées. Le modèle a ensuite été utilisé pour l'étude de la relaxation du méthane dans le proche et dans le moyen infrarouge. Là encore, les modélisations montrent un bon accord entre les simulations réalisées et les mesures expérimentales. Ces résultats permettront d'anticiper les conditions pour lesquelles une non-linéarité du signal PA pourra se produire.

In the context of improving water productivity, there is a growing interest in deficit irrigation, an irrigation practice whereby water supply is reduced below maximum levels and mild stress is allowed with minimal effects on yield. Under conditions of scarce water supply and drought, deficit irrigation can lead to greater economic gains than maximizing yields per unit of water for a given crop; farmers are more inclined to use water more efficiently, and more water-efficient cash crop selection helps optimize returns. However, this approach requires precise knowledge of crop response to water as drought tolerance varies considerably by species, cultivar and stage of growth. The studies present the latest research concepts and involve various practices for deficit irrigation. Both annual and perennial crops were exposed to different levels of water stress, either during a particular growth phase, throughout the whole growing season or in a combination of growth stages. The overall finding, based on the synthesis of the different contributions, is that deficit or regulated-deficit irrigation can be beneficial where appropriately applied. Substantial savings of water can be achieved with little impact on the quality and quantity of the harvested yield. However, to be successful, an intimate knowledge of crop behavior is required, as crop response to water stress varies considerably.
