Algorithms and Parallel VLSI Architectures III

Algorithms and Parallel VLSI Architectures III PDF Author: M. Moonen
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080526977
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 425

Book Description
A comprehensive overview of the current evolution of research in algorithms, architectures and compilation for parallel systems is provided by this publication. The contributions focus specifically on domains where embedded systems are required, either oriented to application-specific or to programmable realisations. These are crucial in domains such as audio, telecom, instrumentation, speech, robotics, medical and automotive processing, image and video processing, TV, multimedia, radar and sonar. The book will be of particular interest to the academic community because of the detailed descriptions of research results presented. In addition, many contributions feature the "real-life" applications that are responsible for driving research and the impact of their specific characteristics on the methodologies is assessed. The publication will also be of considerable value to senior design engineers and CAD managers in the industrial arena, who wish either to anticipate the evolution of commercially available design tools or to utilize the presented concepts in their own R&D programmes.

Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing

Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing PDF Author: Sang-Soo Yeo
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3642131190
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 596

Book Description
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the proceedings of the 10th annual event of the International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP). ICA3PP is recognized as the main regular event covering the many dimensions of parallel algorithms and architectures, encompassing fundamental theoretical - proaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial components and systems. As applications of computing systems have permeated every aspect of daily life, the power of computing systems has become increasingly critical. Therefore, ICA3PP 2010 aimed to permit researchers and practitioners from industry to exchange inf- mation regarding advancements in the state of the art and practice of IT-driven s- vices and applications, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future directions of parallel processing. We received a total of 157 submissions this year, showing by both quantity and quality that ICA3PP is a premier conference on parallel processing. In the first stage, all papers submitted were screened for their relevance and general submission - quirements. These manuscripts then underwent a rigorous peer-review process with at least three reviewers per paper. In the end, 47 papers were accepted for presentation and included in the main proceedings, comprising a 30% acceptance rate.

Parallel Processing on VLSI Arrays

Parallel Processing on VLSI Arrays PDF Author: Josef A. Nossek
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461540364
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 136

Book Description
Guest Editor: JOSEF A. NOSSEK This is a special issue of the Journal of VLSI Signal Processing comprising eight contributions invited for publica tion on the basis of novel work presented in a special session on "Parallel Processing on VLSI Arrays" at the International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) held in New Orleans in May 1990. Massive parallelism to cope with high-speed requirements stemming from real-time applications and the restrictions in architectural and circuit design, such as regularity and local connectedness, brought about by the VLSI technology are the key questions addressed in these eight papers. They can be grouped into three subsections elaborating on: • Simulation of continuous physical systems, i. e. , numerically solving partial differential equations. • Neural architectures for image processing and pattern recognition. • Systolic architectures for implementing regular and irregular algorithms in VLSI technology. The paper by A. Fettweis and O. Nitsche advocates a signal processing approach for the numerical integration of partial differential equations (PD Es). It is based on the principles of multidimensional wave digital filters (MDWDFs) thereby preserving the passivity of energy dissipating physical systems. It is particularly suited for systems ofPDEs involving time and finite propagation speed. The basic ideas are explained using Maxwell's equa tions as a vehicle for the derivation of a multidimensional equivalent circuit representing the spatially infinitely extended arrangement with only very few circuit elements.

Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814602787
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 398

Book Description
Character and handwriting recognition by computers is attracting much attention particularly because of its potential for application in many areas such as office automation, bank check processing, recognition of postal addresses and ZIP Codes, signature verification, and document and text recognition.Over the past four decades, many methods have been proposed, developed and tested for computers to recognize characters, and they have been reported in a variety of publications. The present volume is a coherent and integrated publication containing papers which give new research results in this increasingly active field. It is a boon to researchers, scientists and engineers who need to keep abreast of new developments in character and handwriting methodologies and applications.
