Book Description
Brothers, two hundred thousand years ago, African people were the culmination of the co-creation by Hominins and Nature in Africa. This co-creation happened over six million years. Fifty to sixty thousand years ago, African people left Africa, migrated around the Earth, and co-created humanity. (What I write here and what was presented in the 2015 PBS television series, First Peoples, represents the same science.) Even now African people have more genetically diversity than the rest of humanity. African people in Africa were the creators of language, art, science, mathematics, technology . . . all human activities. Specifically African people created law and monotheism. The Abrahamic-Myth belief systems (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) perverted these African beliefs. The Abrahamic system used the Ham-Noah myth to contend that Africans were cursed. Although this myth was created and interpreted by Jews, this myth was acted on by Arabs (Islamists) and Europeans (Christians) resulting in fourteen hundred years of African enslavement. Starting in the 1700s, primarily World African men led a consciousness change. Similar consciousness changes climaxed in the 1860s and the 1960s. Ensuing actions reduced African enslavement over the nineteenth century and increased some rights in the twentieth century. Yet the sustained attacks by Europeans and Arabs still impact World Africans. The counter to these attacks is a principle-based change-of-consciousness. World African can realize that they are Preeminent in Nature. World Africans can heal themselves and stimulate the rest of humanity thereby. This book presents background and a set of questions for black men to think about. The test will be whether significant positive actions results from their thoughts. The book, STEM: Source-Ken World Transmutations and Equitocracy for Mankind, by this author (Xlibris-2015) provides background for this work.

Invisible Men: The Trailblazing Black Artists of Comic Books PDF Author: Ken Quattro
Publisher: National Geographic Books
ISBN: 1684055865
Category : Comics & Graphic Novels
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Hear the riveting stories of Black artists who drew--mostly covertly behind the scenes--superhero, horror, and romance comics in the early years of the industry. The life stories of each man's personal struggles and triumphs are represented as they broke through into a world formerly occupied only by whites. Using primary source material from World War II-era Black newspapers and magazines, this compelling book profiles pioneers like E.C. Stoner, a descendant of one of George Washington's slaves, who became a renowned fine artist of the Harlem Renaissance and the first Black artist to draw comic books. Perhaps more fascinating is Owen Middleton who was sentenced to life in Sing Sing. Middleton's imprisonment became a cause célèbre championed by Will Durant, which led to Middleton's release and subsequent comics career. Then there is Matt Baker, the most revered of the Black artists, whose exquisite art spotlights stunning women and men, and who drew the first groundbreaking Black comic book hero, Vooda! The book is gorgeously illustrated with rare examples of each artist's work, including full stories from mainstream comic books from rare titles like All-Negro Comics and Negro Heroes, plus unpublished artist's photos. Invisible Men features Ken Quattro's impeccable research and lean writing detailing the social and cultural environments that formed these extraordinary, yet invisible, men!

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

White Fragility

White Fragility PDF Author: Dr. Robin DiAngelo
Publisher: Beacon Press
ISBN: 0807047422
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 194

Book Description
The New York Times best-selling book exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality. In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to ‘bad people’ (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.

Emil Fackenheim’s Post-Holocaust Thought and Its Philosophical Sources

Emil Fackenheim’s Post-Holocaust Thought and Its Philosophical Sources PDF Author: Kenneth Hart Green
Publisher: University of Toronto Press
ISBN: 1487529678
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 316

Book Description
Recognized as one of the leading philosophers and Jewish thinkers of the twentieth century, Emil Ludwig Fackenheim has been widely praised for his boldness, originality, and profundity. As is well-known, a striking feature of Fackenheim’s thought is his unwavering contention that the Holocaust brought about a radical shift in human history, so monumental and unprecedented that nothing can ever be the same again. Fackenheim regarded it as the specific duty of thinkers and scholars to assume responsibility to probe this historical event for its impact on the human future and to make its immense ramifications evident. In Emil Fackenheim’s Post-Holocaust Thought and Its Philosophical Sources, scholars consider important figures in the history of philosophy – including Kant, Hegel, Heidegger, and Strauss – and trace how Fackenheim's philosophical confrontations with each of them shaped his overall thought. This collection details which philosophers exercised the greatest influence on Fackenheim, and how he diverged from them. Incorporating widely varying approaches, the contributors in the volume wrestle with this challenge historically, politically, and philosophically in order to illuminate the depths of Fackenheim’s own thought.

Stalking the Black Swan

Stalking the Black Swan PDF Author: Kenneth A. Posner
Publisher: Columbia University Press
ISBN: 0231521677
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 284

Book Description
Kenneth A. Posner spent close to two decades as a Wall Street analyst, tracking the so-called "specialty finance" sector, which included controversial companies such as Countrywide, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CIT, and MasterCard many of which were caught in the subprime mortgage and capital markets crisis of 2007. While extreme volatility is nothing new in finance, the recent downturn caught many off guard, indicating that the traditional approach to decision making had let them down. Introducing a new framework for handling and evaluating extreme risk, Posner draws on years of experience to show how decision makers can best cope with the "Black Swans" of our time. Posner's shrewd assessment combines the classic fundamental research approach of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd with more recent developments in cognitive science, computational theory, and quantitative finance. He outlines a probabilistic approach to decision making that involves forecasting across a range of scenarios, and he explains how to balance confidence, react accurately to fast-breaking information, overcome information overload, zero in on the critical issues, penetrate the information asymmetry shielding corporate executives, and integrate the power of human intuition with sophisticated analytics. Emphasizing the computational resources we already have at our disposal our computers and our minds Posner offers a new track to decision making for analysts, investors, traders, corporate executives, risk managers, regulators, policymakers, journalists, and anyone who faces a world of extreme volatility.
