This is a 28 page mostly blank book in an 8x10 inch size. In addition to these 26 pages, it also has a page for the title and an About the Author page that can be filled in. This is a great little printed book for your writers and illustrators. Add art, vocabulary, sentences, and more! Affordably-priced, you can get one for your child at home, or possibly have parents pitch in to get them for your classroom and make it a great primary grades project! The cover is pretty much blank, too. I suggest drawing and then gluing the cover image on the front. You can also scan a drawing and print it out on a full page sticker. The Aldine Press

The Aldine Press PDF Author: University of California, Los Angeles. Library
Publisher: Univ of California Press
ISBN: 9780520229938
Category : Antiques & Collectibles
Languages : en
Pages : 678

Book Description
This catalog provides a descriptive bibliography of books in the Ahmanson-Murphy Aldine collection at the University of California, Los Angeles, together with abbreviated notices of works not at UCLA. Handsomely produced, slipcased, and carefully annotated, this volume should become a major resource for Aldine studies and the history of the book. The Aldine Press revolutionized the production, accessibility, and use of the book. Founded by Aldus Manutius (ca 1452-1515), the press introduced a number of innovations that helped shape the development of the modern book, including italic type and the smaller, pocket-sized volume. By putting the Greek and Latin classics in a form that everyone could afford, it revolutionized scholarship: the uniform Aldine texts made comparison and collation universally available, and they were used in schools. Collectors were interested in the Aldine Press from the beginning; Jean Grolier acquired over two hundred of its publications, often having the books elegantly bound and handsomely illuminated. Since that time, the output of the Aldine Press has been sought after by scholars, book collectors, and librarians. Copies of its books are found in libraries all over the world, where they remain a prized possession and the object of much scholarly research. For thirty-two years, Franklin D. Murphy, who came to UCLA as its sixth chancellor, fostered the expansion of the Aldine collection and encouraged its growth. During the greater part of this long period he was joined in these endeavors by the Ahmanson Foundation, whose constant support permitted the collection to increase in both size and significance. Following Dr. Murphy's death, the Ahmanson Foundation continued its generous support for the expansion of the collection and, in addition, by means of a grant late in 1996, enabled the present catalog to come into existence. Sir Philip Sidney and the Circulation of Manuscripts, 1558-1640

Sir Philip Sidney and the Circulation of Manuscripts, 1558-1640 PDF Author: H. R. Woudhuysen
Publisher: Clarendon Press
ISBN: 0191591025
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 541

Book Description
This is the first modern study of the production and circulation of manuscripts during the English Renaissance. H.R. Woudhuysen examines the relationship between manuscript and print, looks at people who lived by their pens, and surveys authorial and scribal manuscripts, paying particular attention to the copying of verse, plays, and scholarly works by hand. It investigates the professional production of manuscripts for sale by scribes such as Ralph Crane and Richard Robinson. The second part of the book examines Sir Philip Sydney's works in the context of Woudhuysen's research, discussing all Sidney's important manuscripts, and seeking to assess his part in the circulation of his works and his role in the promotion of a scribal culture. A detailed examination of the manuscripts and early prints of his poems, his Arcadias, and of Astrophil and Stella shed new light on their composition, evolution, and dissemination, as well as on Sidney's friends and admirers.
