Book Description
Excerpt from Some Mining Districts in Northeastern California and Northwestern Nevada The map Of Nevada north of latitude 39 as prepared by the Fortieth Parallel Survey, affords the best geologic data obtainable on the camps visited. The so-called Archean rocks shown on this map at Peavine Mountain, north of Reno, are now known to be granites that are intrusive into pre-tertiary schists. Battle Mountain consists in part of sediments Older than the Weber quartzite, though it includes also the rocks of which it is shown to consist on Map V of the Fortieth Parallel Atlas. The determinations of many of the flow rocks given by Zirkel have been changed, largely owing to the development of the science of petrography. The writer wishes to express his indebtedness to the mining men Of the camps visited for numerous courtesies, especially to Mr. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
