Croissance du sinus maxillaire

Croissance du sinus maxillaire PDF Author: Noémie Domont

Book Description

The Evo-Devo Origin of the Nose, Anterior Skull Base and Midface

The Evo-Devo Origin of the Nose, Anterior Skull Base and Midface PDF Author: Roger Jankowski
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 2817804228
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 216

Book Description
The phylontogenic theory proposes an original understanding of nose, sinus and midface formation and development by looking back in evolution for the first traces of the olfactory organ and then tracing its successive phyletic transformations to become part of the respiratory apparatus and finally the central point of human facial anatomy. Von Baer’s, Darwin’s, Haeckel’s, Garstang’s, Gould’s and Buss’ explorations of parallels between phylogeny and ontogeny help to trace the nose and midface story. The paradigm of existing parallels between ontogeny and phylogeny proves useful both in seeking to understand the holoprosencephalic spectrum of facial malformations (which represent radically different pathways of facial development after the life’s tape has been started to run again) and in formulating hypotheses on chordate to vertebrate evolution. The phylontogenic theory leads to new medical hypotheses on nose and sinus diseases and opens the field of evolution and development-based medicine.

Foundations of Morphodynamics in Osteopathy

Foundations of Morphodynamics in Osteopathy PDF Author: Torsten Liem
Publisher: Jessica Kingsley Publishers
ISBN: 1909141631
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 720

Book Description
In 35 chapters written by the editors and a team of internationally renowned contributors, the book covers the underlying principles of osteopathic palpation from a biodynamic and 'morphodynamic' perspective, and their application in the cranial field and the spinal cord. It emphasises the importance of considering not just the patient's physical self, but also the inner consciousness. It teaches how to assess tissue-energy characteristics, and to use this understanding in managing the whole patient. The work discusses biophysical, neurobiological and psychological interactions as well as the interplay of developmental dynamics and further epigenetic influences on the organism. As well as the primary respiratory mechanism, various biological rhythms play an important role within osteopathic treatment; the book explores new insights that flow from chronobiology and rhythm research. All osteopathic practice develops on conceptual foundations. Acknowledging the importance in the practice of osteopathy of such theoretical underpinning, the book discusses osteopathy with regard to the development of paradigms within the healing arts as well as from various philosophical viewpoints - such as postmodern, system-theoretical, Goethian and phenomenological. It examines thoroughly the multi-layered dynamics of development of human beings interacting with their environment. The resulting implications for therapeutic interaction as well as principles of diagnosis and treatment form the core of the book. These fundamental principles are then specifically applied to the cranial sphere. This section focuses primarily on the treatment of the brain, as well as the developmental dynamics of the relations of the midline, cranial bones, dural structures, vessels and cranial nerves.

Frog Neurobiology

Frog Neurobiology PDF Author: R. Llinas
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642663168
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 1056

Book Description
In review, the amount of information available on the morphological and func tional properties of the frog nervous system is very extensive indeed and in certain areas is the only available source of information in vertebrates. Further more, much of the now classical knowledge in neurobiology was originally ob tained and elaborated in depth in this vertebrate. To cite only a few examples, studies of nerve conduction, neuromuscular transmission, neuronal integration, sense organs, development, and locomotion have been developed with great detail in the frog and in conjunction provide the most complete holistic descrip tion of any nervous system. Added to the above considerations, the ease with which these animals may be maintained (both as adults and during development) and the advantage of their lower cost as compared with other vertebrate forms make the frog one of the most important laboratory animals in neurobiology. With these thoughts in mind, we decided to compile this volume. Our goal in doing so was to assemble as much as possible of the information available on frog neurobiology and to have the different topics covered by authorities in each of the fields represented. To keep the handbook restricted to one volume, we found it necessary to omit the large field of amphibian muscle neurobiology, which has already been summarized in various other publications.

Essentials of Facial Growth

Essentials of Facial Growth PDF Author: Donald H. Enlow
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 330

Book Description
Authored by the foremost experts in the field, this compact reference serves the student and clinician by relating basic science to successful treatment planning. It demonstrates how the best instrument in dental medicine is often the practitioner's knowledge of the body's biologic growth principles. Donald H. Enlow, MS, PhD, the acknowledged pioneer and research leader in facial growth study for the past twenty years, provides comprehensive insights into normal and abnormal craniofacial growth and development. His colleague, Mark G. Hans, DDS, MSD, contributes a concrete understanding of the importance of these concepts in clinical practice. It delves into the interrelationships between soft tissue and skeletal growth, and examines the impact of function upon development. And it stresses the ways in which these biological principles and concepts affect treatment planning, selection, results, relapse, tooth movement, and nonbiological prosthetic implants during growth. Detailed illustrations make key concepts and developmental processes simple to grasp, and a user-friendly organization allows for quick comprehension and convenient referral.
