Dynamic Simulation of Sodium Cooled Fast Reactors

Dynamic Simulation of Sodium Cooled Fast Reactors PDF Author: G Vaidyanathan
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000779564
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 289

Book Description
This book provides the basis of simulating a nuclear plant, in understanding the knowledge of how such simulations help in assuring the safety of the plants, thereby protecting the public from accidents. It provides the reader with an in-depth knowledge about modeling the thermal and flow processes in a fast reactor and gives an idea about the different numerical solution methods. The text highlights the application of the simulation to typical sodium-cooled fast reactor. The book • Discusses mathematical modeling of the heat transfer process in a fast reactor cooled by sodium. • Compares different numerical techniques and brings out the best one for the solution of the models. • Provides a methodology of validation based on experiments. • Examines modeling and simulation aspects necessary for the safe design of a fast reactor. • Emphasizes plant dynamics aspects, which is important for relating the interaction between the components in the heat transport systems. • Discusses the application of the models to the design of a sodium-cooled fast reactor It will serve as an ideal reference text for senior undergraduate, graduate students, and academic researchers in the fields of nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, and power cycle engineering.

Book Description
This report is a users' manual for one version of BRENDA (Breeder Reactor Nuclear Dynamic Analysis), which is a digital program for simulating the dynamic behavior of a sodium-cooled fast reactor power plant. This version, which contains 57 differential equations, represents a simplified model of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Project (CRBRP). BRENDA is an input deck for DARE P (Differential Analyzer Replacement, Portable), which is a continuous-system simulation language developed at the University of Arizona. This report contains brief descriptions of DARE P and BRENDA, instructions for using BRENDA in conjunction with DARE P, and some sample output. A list of variable names and a listing for BRENDA are included as appendices.

Combined Cycle Driven Efficiency for Next Generation Nuclear Power Plants

Combined Cycle Driven Efficiency for Next Generation Nuclear Power Plants PDF Author: Bahman Zohuri
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319705512
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 407

Book Description
The second edition of this book includes the most up-to-date details on the advantages of Nuclear Air-Brayton Power Plant Cycles for advanced reactors. It demonstrates significant advantages for typical sodium cooled reactors and describes how these advantages will grow as higher temperature systems (molten salts) are developed. It also describes how a Nuclear Air-Brayton system can be integrated with significant renewable (solar and wind) energy systems to build a low carbon grid. Starting with basic principles of thermodynamics as applied to power plant systems, it moves on to describe several types of Nuclear Air-Brayton systems that can be employed to meet different requirements. It provides estimates of component sizes and performance criteria for Small Modular Reactors (SMR). This book has been revised to include updated tables and significant new results that have become available for intercooled systems in the time since the previous edition published. In this edition also, the steam tables have been updated and Chapters 9 and 10 have been rewritten to keep up with the most up-to- date technology and current research.
