Book Description
The diamond material possesses very attractive properties, such as superior electronic properties (when doped), in addition to a controllable surface termination. During the process of diamond synthesis, the resulting chemical properties will depend not only on the adsorbed species but also on the type of substitutional doping element. The combination of adsorbate and dopant will thus have the ability to influence both the chemical and electronic properties of a diamond surface. All resulting (and interesting) properties of doped and terminated diamond surfaces make it clear that these types of material modifications are very important for a variety of applications that are based on photoactivated chemical processes. Theoretical modeling has been shown to act as an important scientific tool in explaining and predicting experimental results. Simulation of the dependence of, e.g. surface termination and doping on diamond material properties, is expected to give important information about various surface electronic properties (like photo-induced surface electrochemistry).

Handbook of Diamond Technology
Author: W.R. Fahrner
Publisher: Trans Tech Publications Ltd
ISBN: 3035705925
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 680
Book Description
This book is the result of twenty years of experience on the fabrication of active micro-cooling systems, the fabrication of electronic devices (radiation and magnetic sensors, transistors), the fabrication of optical devices (new green LED), and the adaptation of silicon simulation software to diamond. This includes the integration of the current transport models of diamond. The book emphasize the subjects' substrate selection, mechanical and chemical structuring, doping, and metallization. Also included is simulation as a tool to predict the results of the technological steps. Though a state of the art method is far behind in comparison to the silicon and gallium arsenide growth we assume the same state as exists in these technologies, namely that the diamond substrates are commercially available.

Physics and Applications of CVD Diamond
Author: Satoshi Koizumi
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 9783527408016
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 386
Book Description
Here, leading scientists report on why and how diamond can be optimized for applications in bioelectronic and electronics. They cover such topics as growth techniques, new and conventional doping mechanisms, superconductivity in diamond, and excitonic properties, while application aspects include quantum electronics at room temperature, biosensors as well as diamond nanocantilevers and SAWs. Written in a review style to make the topic accessible for a wider community of scientists working in interdisciplinary fields with backgrounds in physics, chemistry, biology and engineering, this is essential reading for everyone working in environments that involve conventional electronics, biotechnology, quantum computing, quantum cryptography, superconductivity and light emission from highly excited excitonic systems.
