Book Description
Dive into this fun and quirky Urban Fantasy series that draws from Asian mythology! I’m still only a barber to the supernatural, and I still have super weak magic, but I’ve somehow been tasked with essentially saving the world. Yeah, I know. And if I don’t deliver, it’s my neck on the line. So far, it’s not going too well. In fact, it’s not going at all, frankly. I have no idea where to start, no power to make anything happen, and yes, Tim the cat continues to be a sarcastic pain in the ass that’s no help whatsoever. As if I didn’t have enough on my plate, there’s also a weird, recent increase in human suicides that definitely feels like it’s linked to something magical. And then to top it all off, a Mundane holding an amulet manages to enter the barbershop, which should be impossible, given all the spells in place to keep them out. I’m going to need to figure out what’s going on pretty damn quick before the Mayak decide I’m not up to the job and get rid of me. I’m up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle. Grab Bound by Silver to find out if I manage to produce that pesky paddle and live to shave another day. Please note that this is book 2 of a continuous series. The author recommends that you start with book 1, Touched by Magic. Fans of the following authors are known to enjoy this urban fantasy series: Lindsay Buroker, Leanne Leads, Kelly St. Clare, Emma Scott, Rebecca Hamilton, Elizabeth Briggs, Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti, Harley Laroux, Jaymin Eve, Deborah Wilde, Shannon Mayer, Michelle Madow, Kate Danley, P.C. James, Janet Butler Male, Bobbi Holmes, Anna J. Illustrated Catalogue of Drawing Instruments
Author: John Lyles
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 1931626472
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 142
Book Description
Originally developed in 1993 for an auction of an Architect's private collection of over 1,500 drawing instruments and calculators; this extensive book is one of a few comprehensive references available for comparative study of these instruments. The original collection was assembled over a twelve year period from sources in the US and Europe. Each instrument is listed in a scientific format for comparative evaluation and identification. An abbreviations table supports this approach. Profusely illustrated with 113 color photos and 61 highly organized text pages. The Subject Index has over 400 individual references dissecting this impressive collective of instruments from the 18th C. thru the mid 20th century. Instruments are categorized by Maker, Country, Period of Manufacture and function. Different instrument makers and suppliers are referenced to over 300 individual items. The four page Table of Contents provides a logical and extremely useful subjective summary of the catalog contents so that whatever the instrument or drawing tool, its location can be easily found. The photographs were taken with the idea of showing these important instruments in a comparative array. Researchers and collectors will find this a valuable resource. These instruments represent a most prolific period of time in our history of invention and advancements in technology. Computers are the new tools which demand a new pace of design and documentation.... They leave behind the centuries of drawing instruments that were the connection from the hand to the paper.

Chemistry of Precious Metals
Author: S.A. Cotton
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400914636
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 386
Book Description
Some 20 years ago, I was privileged to share in writing a book on the descriptive chemistry of the 4d, 5d, 4f and 5f metals that included these eight elements within its compass (S.A. Cotton and F.A. Hart, The Heavy Transition Elements, Macmillan, 1975). This volume shares the same aim of covering the descriptive chemistry of silver, gold and the six platinum metals in some detail at a level suitable for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate study. It does not attempt to be a comprehensive treatise on the chemistry of these metals. It attempts to fill a slot between the general text and the in-depth review or monograph. The organometallic chemistry is confined to a-bonded com pounds in normal oxidation states; compounds with IT-bonding ligands are generally excluded. Their inclusion would have increased the length of the book considerably and, moreover, their recent chemistry has been extensively and expertly reviewed in the new Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry, II, eds G. Wilkinson, F.G.A. Stone and E.W. Abel, Pergamon, Oxford, 1995.
