The Transparency of Things

The Transparency of Things PDF Author: Rupert Spira
Publisher: Non-Duality
ISBN: 9780955829055
Category : Advaita
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
The purpose of Rupert's book is to look clearly and simply at the nature of experience, without any attempt to change it. A series of contemplations lead us gently but directly to see that our essential nature is neither a body nor a mind. It is the conscious Presence that is aware of this current experience. As such it is nothing that can be experienced as an object and yet it is undeniably present. However, these contemplations go much further than this. As we take our stand knowingly as this conscious Presence that we always already are, and reconsider the objects of the body, mind and world, we find that they do not simply appear to this Presence, they appear within it. And further exploration reveals that they do not simply appear within this Presence but as this Presence. Finally we are led to see that it is in fact this very Presence itself that takes the shape of our experience from moment to moment whilst always remaining only itself. We see that our experience is and has only ever been one seamless totality with no separate entities or objects anywhere to be found.

Education for Critical Consciousness

Education for Critical Consciousness PDF Author: Paulo Freire
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1350190179
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 216

Book Description
Famous for his advocacy of 'critical pedagogy', Paulo Freire was Latin America's foremost educationalist, a thinker and writer whose work and ideas continue to exert enormous influence in education throughout the world today. Education for Critical Consciousness is the main statement of Freire's revolutionary method of education. It takes the life situation of the learner as its starting point and the raising of consciousness and the overcoming of obstacles as its goals. For Freire, man's striving for his own humanity requires the changing of structures which dehumanize both the oppressor and the oppressed. This edition includes a substantial new introduction by Carlos Alberto Torres, Distinguished Professor and Founding Director of the Paulo Freire Institute, UCLA, USA. Translated by Myra Bergman Ramos.

ISBN: 1647836379
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 54

Book Description
Practice Silence and Meditation talks about how space helps us get silence, the benefits of silence, the effect of silence in the progress of meditation, thoughts of various religions on meditation, how to become a thought observer or witness and the silence, meditation, peace of mind and state of Samadhi and the internal live force called prana energy in Hinduism and its uses. Silence brings us peace. Mahatma Gandhi and Buddha follow silence. Indian yogis are also advised to practice silence to improve mediation quality and get inner peace. Concentrating on your breathing during meditation helps in bringing space to your lives. You become conscious of your own breath and are in the present. Conscious breathing stops the process of thinking and remains aware and meditative. Prana energy is “name” in Hindu. It’s called “Chi” in Chinese and in Hebrew, it’s called “Ruash”. This energy is a vital force for life. When increased in the human body, it brings peace and good quality of meditation and, ultimately, the state of Samadhi. It is also used for spiritual healing in many countries. China invented acupuncture, in which normal power is required by the human body and enters through fine pins for healing or curing sickness.

Silence Unheard

Silence Unheard PDF Author: Yohanan Grinshpon
Publisher: State University of New York Press
ISBN: 0791489949
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 169

Book Description
Silence Unheard maintains that the reality of Patañjali's Yogasūtra is a profound silence barely and variously audible to the scholars and interpreters who approach it. Even the Yogasūtra itself is an "approach," a voice articulating an other-- a silent, beyond-speech yogin. Author Yohanan Grinshpon presents Patañjali as a Sāṅkhya-philosopher, who interprets silence in accordance with his own dualist metaphysics and Buddhistic sensibilities. The Yogasūtra represents an intellectual's conceptualization of utter otherness rather than the yogin's verbalization of silence. Silence Unheard focuses on the yogin's supra-normal experiences (siddhis) as well as on the classification of silences and the ultimate goal of disintegration through guṇa balance. The book provides a translation of the Yogasūtra divided into two sections: an essential text, concerning the yoga practitioner, and a secondary text, concerning the philosopher. Grinshpon also surveys the encounters of intellectuals, scholars, seekers, devotees, and outsiders with the Yogasūtra.
