The first part of this book analyzes how signs are recognized in order to better understand how communicative signs are configured--through simple formal constants that make up basic signs (triangles, crosses, arrows) in successive communication. The analysis of formal aspects is also broadened to incorporate cultural and psychological parameters. In the second part, the author provides a history of the sign systems used in major cultures to fix their language in time.
