"The sciences of signs and language are viewed in this book from the perspective of the philosophy of language. Ultimately, the aim is to develop a critique of sign processes and communication (verbal and nonverbal) in the sphere of anthroposemiosis and to search for their conditions of possibility, their foundations. Victoria Welby (1837–1912) dedicated her research to the relationship between signs and values. She exchanged ideas with important exponents of the language and sign sciences, such as Charles S.
