SONNETS OF THE MIND

SONNETS OF THE MIND PDF Author: Jacob Wilson Chikuhwa
Publisher: Author House
ISBN: 149188276X
Category : Poetry

Pages : 149

Book Description
Sonnets of the Mind prove that there's beauty even in the bleakest situations: pure fantasy-filled. There are men and women who cross each other's paths. Some fall in love and then break the relationship without a blink and yet others break marriages and later regret the episode. But while it lasted, they let the whirl pick them up and carry them where it willed. There is the executive who indulges in lust, alcoholism, drug abuse and promiscuity which sooner or later easily take their toll. Affluence and general decay all over the place: loss, love, revelations and social intrigue are all part of the general tone in this book. And yet in some sonnets of the mind, there are monarch butterflies with wide pulsing wings all over the place and the accumulated pleasure bursts like a sprinkler. So sweet is the moment you want it to last as long as possible; forever. However, in reality, nothing lasts forever; sooner or later the spark disappears. I only hope this collection of poems will stimulate more recital and debate in different arenas, be it at educational institutions, debating arenas or cultural gatherings.

Zimbabwe At The Crossroads

Zimbabwe At The Crossroads PDF Author: Jacob Wilson Chikuhwa
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1467873411
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 216

Book Description
The theme of Zimbabwe at the Crossroads is on issues of governance and economic management. The story being told is how a prosperous country at independence in 1980 has virtually turned from a bread basket to a begging bowl. After the success with A Crisis of Governance: Zimbabwe, Dr Jacob Chikuhwa continues the tragic analysis of the Zimbabwean economy. An analysis set against a backdrop of growing poverty in a country with abundant human and natural resources, this book weaves together a cast of socio-economic factors that form the causes of the economic quagmire. This academic exposé brings to the fore the desperate hope for democracy and economic recovery in Zimbabwe. International donor agencies and institutions specialising in African development studies will be delighted with Jacob Chikuhwa’s latest instalment whose driving force is the statistical analysis of events in the southern African country.

Knowledge Production and the Search for Epistemic Liberation in Africa

Knowledge Production and the Search for Epistemic Liberation in Africa PDF Author: Dennis Masaka
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031079655
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
This book shows the importance of knowledge production using requisite terms and frameworks to the broader scheme of epistemic liberation in Africa. The text considers what this veritable direction to knowledge production would mean to other areas of concern in African philosophy such as morality, education and the environment. These contributions are important because the success of decolonising projects in African countries depend upon the methods that underpin envisioned liberative knowledge production in light of Africa’s historical and present condition. This volume appeals to students and researchers working in epistemology and African philosophy.

Business Management (A Brief Exposé)

Business Management (A Brief Exposé) PDF Author: Jacob W. Chikuhwa
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1491815361
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 105

Book Description
The links between manpower management, financial control and information management systems are clearly defined in Business Management (A Brief Expos) where an analysis of budgeting for manpower needed for production and marketing; basic steps in accounting procedures; and stages in data processing are expounded. It is realised that whereas the factory processes raw materials and produces goods for sale, a data processing department processes basic data and produces basic business documents and control information for management to keep them informed of events within the business. This enables them to coordinate different activities of the organisation's functional groups and to control the day-to-day transactions and be in a position to take whatever corrective action is necessary to achieve the objectives of the particular business. Furthermore, an efficient data processing system makes it possible to adjust the situation before it goes out of hand by adjusting income distribution and combating organisation inefficiency. With carefully structured data processing systems, a general method can be established for decision-making or policy-making in individual cases of manpower recruitment and development; investment projects; and income distribution. A brief description of the complexities of economic and business affairs may be necessarily misleading, but I hope that this booklet is not more misleading than the average of such materials. It is an attempt to explain the immense complexity of the real world by logical theories, which provide the student with worthwhile intellectual exercise and excitement. Business Management (A Brief Expos) offers to the professional student, the start-up entrepreneur, the small- and medium-size businessman and the business executive a preliminary survey of the fields of manpower development, accountancy and electronic data processing. The wider public, whose enlightened interest is the mainspring of social progress, may, I hope, find in its pages something to stimulate reflection upon those larger issues which must be determined, if at all, by the consensus of their opinion. The purpose of this booklet is to give the reader an insight into the way organisations emerge and grow, and the relationships between manpower management, financial management and management information systems. In particular, Business Management (A Brief Expos) will be of help to the busy Chief Executive Officer who hardly has time to read through different volumes associated with manpower management, financial control and computerised management information systems. Nevertheless, more reading and details may be found in A Handbook in Business Management by the same author. Jacob Wilson Chikuhwa has also published a number of books on Zimbabwe's socio-economic developments.

Oliver Mtukudzi

Oliver Mtukudzi PDF Author: Jennifer W. Kyker
Publisher: Indiana University Press
ISBN: 025302238X
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 305

Book Description
Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi, a Zimbabwean guitarist, vocalist, and composer, has performed worldwide and released some 50 albums. One of a handful of artists to have a beat named after him, Mtukudzi blends Zimbabwean traditional sounds with South African township music and American gospel and soul, to compose what is known as Tuku Music. In this biography, Jennifer W. Kyker looks at Mtukudzi's life and art, from his encounters with Rhodesian soldiers during the Zimbabwe war of liberation to his friendship with American blues artist Bonnie Raitt. With unprecedented access to Mtukudzi, Kyker breaks down his distinctive performance style using the Shona concept of "hunhu," or human identity through moral relationships, as a framework. By reading Mtukudzi's life in connection with his lyrics and the social milieu in which they were created, Kyker offers an engaging portrait of one of African music's most recognized performers. Interviews with family, friends, and band members make this a penetrating, sensitive, and uplifting biography of one of the world's most popular musicians.

In Search of Wisdom

In Search of Wisdom PDF Author: Prof. Anne E. Streaty Wimberly
Publisher: Abingdon Press
ISBN: 1426734115
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 219

Book Description
edited by Anne E. Streaty Wimberly A guide for pastors, church leaders, and all who help African Americans in their search for a meaningful Christian lifestyle. Forming Christians--leading fallen and flawed human beings into the path of discipleship to a crucified and risen Lord--is one of the central, if not the central, tasks of all Christian churches. It is a difficult enough task anywhere, but for African Americans, beset by racial conflict, personal crises, generational separation, and other concerns, it is especially so. African American churches must work particularly hard to counter the messages their members receive from the dominant and often unfriendly culture. This book employs the biblical text and African tradition to draw on the idea of the search for wisdom as a potent way to help African Americans in their pursuit of genuine Christian discipleship. Wisdom in African American tradition is not simply knowledge; rather, it is those insights, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and practices that create and sustain a life of hope and that produce an inherent sense of the worth of one's self. If their members are to engage in the search for wisdom, African American churches must build an intentional ministry of faith formation. Wisdom can be gained, the authors argue, when African Americans listen to the black oral tradition with its proverbial sayings, revered Bible stories, songs, and narratives from the lives of exemplary individuals. The book offers several similar avenues for the search for wisdom, including helpful models of black males mentoring younger black males, as a remedy to the destructive effects that contemporary culture has on this segment of the African American community.
