Book Description
Living on his family's farm in Nebraska, John Shepherd and his wife Jackie know humanity's days are numbered. Despite battling with depression and the tragic end of his military career, John's fighter-pilot spirit is strong, and he can't afford to stand by and watch an unbelieving world as they face a global disaster that is less than three years away. With dreams haunted by images of war, and now by a divine calling, he knows that his Maker is counting on him to build a colossal craft capable of carrying its passengers through space on an uncertain trek in search of a new home. Failure at any stage will lead to cataclysmic death, but John can't give in to fear, with the horrors of Earth's destruction hurtling toward mankind with inescapable vengeance. Travel with John as he sets out on an unpopular, righteous path to build a lifeboat for a select few-human, plant, and animal-to journey through space on an epic pilgrimage. Will he be able to convince a blind world that he can offer salvation from the apocalypse? Rise of Humanity is the first book in the Shepherd's Salvation saga.

Salvation in Continuity

Salvation in Continuity PDF Author: Mothy Varkey
Publisher: Fortress Press
ISBN: 1506432522
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 301

Book Description
It is clear that according to Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus came to “save his people from their sins” (1:21), to “give his life as a ransom for many” (20:28), to have his blood “poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (26:28). But if salvation as promised in 1:21 is achieved only through Jesus’ death, asks Mothy Varkey, are the twenty-five preceding chapters merely preamble? Varkey argues, to the contrary, that the key theme of salvation in the Gospel is presented by Matthew as being in continuity with God’s saving acts in the history of the Jewish people. Further, Varkey insists that, as a consequence of this theology of continuity, Jesus’ death on the cross represents just one of the many ways in which the Gospel presents God’s salvific deeds. The death of Jesus, while unique due to his ontological status as Son of God, should not be distinguished too sharply from his saving acts during his earthly ministry, which took the form of salvific teaching of the Torah, healings, exorcisms, and forgiving of sins. The result is a narrative emphasizing the continuity of salvation throughout Jesus life, reaching into Israel’s past, and beyond into the work of the disciples.

Salvation Manual

Salvation Manual PDF Author: Nsikan E. Johnny
Publisher: Grosvenor House Publishing
ISBN: 1803813547
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 304

Book Description
This book is an illuminating guide on critical, sensitive and salvation-based topics that will intrigue, educate, inspire and above all promote the doctrine of salvation as the focal point of the entire Bible. The book highlights the fact that humanity's greatest need has never been the food that satiates his hunger, the building that gives him shelter, the status that makes him relevant or anything that caters to his physical needs, albeit it consists of topics that discuss humanity's daily needs and how they can be acquired in line with God's word. It adequately emphasises that the salvation of souls constitutes the greatest need and should occupy the top echelon of our priorities. The scripture says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). But what happens when the word is not correctly taught, or correctly taught but not completely broken down and hence not properly understood? This book breaks down biblical lessons in a manner that will be easily understood by readers. Many have read the Bible and taught from it wrongly because they missed the central theme of the Bible which is the salvation of our souls but the words in this book have been written to help the reader avoid reading the Bible amiss and achieve this precious and priceless gift - salvation - that will make existence in this world a meaningful one. The lessons readers will learn are drawn from the context of the scriptures, the express commands of God and from the lives and experiences of several biblical characters. Readers are made to examine some biblical characters' strengths and flaws, successes and failures and extract valuable lessons that will guide them on the journey through life. While people can scan through the Bible and get a general understanding of the stories within these chapters, this book will draw the readers' attention to vital lessons they may not have noticed.
