Pages : 0

Book Description
Volume II of Sharp's commentary will begin with the seals being loosed. The four sets of judgments, containing seven individual judgments each, will be examined thoroughly. Two major themes will be taking place simultaneously. The first is satan's rise to power inclusive of the antichrist and the false prophet. The second is judgment from heaven coming down on this earth agreed to by God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.Quickly the Revelation will unfold as the prophecies race toward Armageddon. A great revival will break forth on the earth followed by a time of persecution against Israel as a nation. A deceiver of peace will arise from the bottomless pit who will require all unsaved to receive his mark, his name or his number. Fallen angels will be unlocked as the devil forms his army. The beast will be revealed as a false messiah.God will systematically align the two sides by sealing those that are His and allowing a mark to be placed on those who are not His. The stage will be set for the ultimate showdown between the saved of the tribulation and the damned of the tribulation. The opposing forces of the Godhead and those of hell's trinity will align with enmity between them. Praise God the redeemed are on the winning side.Revelation 7:13-14, ... What are these that are arrayed in white robes? ... These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Jeremiah 26-52

Jeremiah 26-52 PDF Author: Carolyn Sharp
Publisher: Kohlhammer Verlag
ISBN: 3170400819
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 473

Book Description
This commentary illumines Jer 26-52 through historical, literary, feminist, and postcolonial analysis. Ideologies of subjugation and resistance are entangled in the Jeremiah traditions. The reader is guided through narratives of extreme violence, portrayals of iconic allies and adversaries, and complex gestures of scribal resilience. Judah's cultural trauma is refracted through prose that mimics Neo-Babylonian colonizing ideology, dramatic scenes of survival, and poetry alight with the desire for vengeance against enemies. The commentary's historical and literary arguments are enriched by insights from archaeology, feminist translation theory, and queer studies.

Wisdom Commentary: Revelation

Wisdom Commentary: Revelation PDF Author: Lynn R. Huber
Publisher: Liturgical Press
ISBN: 081468209X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 520

Book Description
While feminist interpretations of the Book of Revelation often focus on the book’s use of feminine archetypes—mother, bride, and prostitute, this commentary explores how gender, sexuality, and other feminist concerns permeate the book in its entirety. By calling audience members to become victors, Revelation’s author, John, commends to them an identity that flows between masculine and feminine and challenges ancient gender norms. This identity befits an audience who follow the Lamb, a genderqueer savior, wherever he goes. In this commentary, Lynn R. Huber situates Revelation and its earliest audiences in the overlapping worlds of ancient Asia Minor (modern Turkey) and first-century Judaism. She also examines how interpreters from different generations living within other worlds have found meaning in this image-rich and meaning-full book.

Joy in Our Weakness

Joy in Our Weakness PDF Author: Marva J. Dawn
Publisher: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
ISBN: 9781876798840
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 244

Book Description
Neither a commentary on the book of Revelation nor a devotional work -- though it offers aspects of both -- Joy in Our Weakness is instead a theological and practical guide that ushers readers into the very presence of Christ and His Lordship over the powers of evil. Marva Dawn writes compassionately for those who suffer, for this book was born out of her own struggles with physical limitations and chronic illness, and it is intended to help the whole Church learn how to find Joy in every circumstance of life, especially in trials and sufferings. After outlining some important foundational principles in three introductory chapters, Dawn guides readers through the whole book of Revelation, pointing out the errors of those who try to calendarize the end of the world and instead delineating how The Revelation reveals Christ's Lordship, exposes the workings of the powers, and sustains those who suffer until evil is ultimately defeated. Now thoroughly revised for a wider readership, Joy in Our Weakness highlights The Revelation's original purpose -- to comfort afflicted, suffering believers -- and spells out a biblically grounded "theology of weakness," offering a rare gift to the Church today. A wealth of insight and encouragement truly awaits the reader of these pages. Book jacket.

Revelation

Revelation PDF Author: Rob Dalrymple
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1666733563
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 491

Book Description
Could the cry “Come out of her My people” (Rev 18:4) not be needed more today than it was when John penned the Apocalypse? The book of Revelation begins and ends with the affirmation that God is the world’s true Lord, not Caesar. In telling this story, John lays out for us the fact that Christ’s kingdom is not like the kingdoms of the world. The kingdoms of the world rule by force and at the expense of the masses and for the benefit of those in power. Jesus’s kingdom, however, comes through love. In Christ’s kingdom, power is demonstrated by laying down one’s life for one’s enemies. Jesus, of course, demonstrated this kind of love on the cross, and he calls us to do the same. We have nothing to fear. After all, Jesus was dead and now he is alive and he has the keys to Death and Hades. Unfortunately, many interpreters have come to believe that the devastation and destruction depicted in the book of Revelation—in particular, in the accounts of the Seven Seals and the Seven Bowls—are God’s end-times wrath. But have we ever stopped to consider that this portrait of God is fundamentally at odds with the gospel? And with Jesus’s call for us to love one another even as he loved us? The book of Revelation tells a different story.
