Beamforming: Sensor Signal Processing For Defence Applications

Beamforming: Sensor Signal Processing For Defence Applications PDF Author: Athanassios Manikas
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 1783262761
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 311

Book Description
Beamforming: Sensor Signal Processing for Defence Applications presents a range of important research contributions concerned with sensor array signal processing and, in particular, with the superresolution beamformers fundamental to many civilian and defence applications. Both space and space-time (STAP) beamforming algorithms and their application to radar systems are considered with emphasis given to 'look-down' airborne radars, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), arrayed MIMO radar and a number of common wake-wave detection algorithms for two-dimensional SAR imagery. Furthermore, ocean towed arrays, which find applications in a variety of areas such as defence, oil and gas exploration, and geological and marine life studies, are also considered paying particular attention to receiver positional uncertainties resulting from the array's flexible structure. Array geometrical and electrical uncertainties, design of auto-calibration algorithms, beamforming 'pointing' error uncertainties and robustification issues are also presented. This book is self-contained and unified in its presentation, and comprehensively covers some of the classic and fundamental models of beamforming for sensor signal processing. It is suitable as an advanced textbook for graduate students and researchers in the area of signal processing, as well as a reference book for engineers in the defence industry.

Fractional Fourier Transform Techniques for Speech Enhancement

Fractional Fourier Transform Techniques for Speech Enhancement PDF Author: Prajna Kunche
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030427463
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 110

Book Description
This book explains speech enhancement in the Fractional Fourier Transform (FRFT) domain and investigates the use of different FRFT algorithms in both single channel and multi-channel enhancement systems, which has proven to be an ideal time frequency analysis tool in many speech signal processing applications. The authors discuss the complexities involved in the highly non- stationary signal processing and the concepts of FRFT for speech enhancement applications. The book explains the fundamentals of FRFT as well as its implementation in speech enhancement. Theories of different FRFT methods are also discussed. The book lets readers understand the new fractional domains to prepare them to develop new algorithms. A comprehensive literature survey regarding the topic is also made available to the reader.

Node Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks

Node Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks PDF Author: Xue Zhang
Publisher: Morgan & Claypool Publishers
ISBN: 1627058931
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 64

Book Description
In sensor network applications, measured data are often meaningful only when the location is accurately known. In this booklet, we study research problems associated with node localization in wireless sensor networks. We describe sensor network localization problems in terms of a detection and estimation framework and we emphasize specifically a cooperative process where sensors with known locations are used to localize nodes at unknown locations. In this class of problems, even if the location of a node is known, the wireless links and transmission modalities between two nodes may be unknown. In this case, sensor nodes are used to detect the location and estimate pertinent data transmission activities between nodes. In addition to the broader problem of sensor localization, this booklet studies also specific localization measurements such as time of arrival (TOA), received signal strength (RSS), and direction of arrival (DOA). The sequential localization algorithm, which uses a subset of sensor nodes to estimate nearby sensor nodes' locations is discussed in detail. Extensive bibliography is given for those readers who want to delve further into specific topics.
