Models for Physics of the Very Small and Very Large
Author: Thomas J. Buckholtz
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9462391661
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 393
Book Description
This monograph tackles three challenges. First, show a mathematics-based meta-model that matches known elementary particles. Second, apply models, based on the meta-model, to match other known physics data. Third, predict future physics data. The math features solutions to isotropic pairs of isotropic quantum harmonic oscillators. This monograph matches some solutions to known elementary particles. Matched properties include spin, types of interactions in which the particles partake, and (for elementary bosons) approximate masses. Other solutions point to possible elementary particles. This monograph applies the models and the extended particle list. Results narrow gaps between physics data and theory. Results pertain to elementary particles, astrophysics, and cosmology. For example, this monograph predicts properties for beyond-the-Standard-Model elementary particles, proposes descriptions of dark matter and dark energy, provides new relationships between known physics constants (including masses of some elementary particles), includes theory that dovetails with the ratio of dark matter to ordinary matter, includes math that dovetails with the number of elementary-fermion generations, suggests forces that govern the rate of expansion of the universe, and suggests additions to and details for the cosmology timeline.

Constructive Processing of Microwave and Optical Data for Hydrogeochemical Applications
Author: Costas A. Varotsos
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031288777
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 531
Book Description
This book presents results of the combined use of microwave remote sensing, optical tools, and ecoinformatics methods under solution-applied tasks at both regional and global scales. Ecoinformatics methods are used to assess links between global climate change and the level of ocean pollution, with specific focus on the Arctic Ocean, the Sea of Okhotsk, and the South-China Sea. The theoretical and applied aspects of instrumental tools are considered in this book as a basis for the monitoring of water quality in various watersheds, with particular attention to microwave remote sensing monitoring data to determine the ecotoxicological status of hydro-ecosystems affected by climate change. The book develops new information technologies that provide solutions for hydrochemical tasks using algorithms and models based on computer technologies for big data processing. This will help to synthesize effective computer-based systems for the solution of problems arising due to anthropogenic impacts on hydrological processes and objects at various spatial scales. This book is intended for specialists in the fields of environmental monitoring, climate change, human-nature interactions, and geopolitics. The book will be useful for undergraduate and postgraduate students studying these fields of science as well.

Mössbauer Studies of Surface Layers
Author: G. N. Belozerskiĭ
Publisher: Elsevier Publishing Company
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 476
Book Description
Mouml;ssbauer spectroscopy has evolved as one of the few methods available for investigation of solids differing in depth by several orders of magnitude. This recent development has made the problems of surface investigation and the study of separate layers amenable to investigation. The parameters of the hyperfine interaction derived from the Mouml;ssbauer spectra provide valuable information on the chemical bond character and on magnetic properties of surface layers as well as on the change of the properties with the depth from the outermost surface layer. It is possible to carry out quantitative phase analysis and to use the technique to study different transformations in the solid which result from external effects under a wide range of temperatures and pressures. This book is one of the first attempts at a consistent presentation of theoretical and practical problems of the use of Mouml;ssbauer spectroscopy to study solid surfaces, its applications, and development. The applications include: surface studies with hyperfine probes in the following fields: oxidation and corrosion of metals and alloys: passivating and protective coatings: physics of metals: annealing and quenching, mechanical and chemical treatment, ion implantation and laser treatment; texture of near-surface layers. Mouml;ssbauer spectroscopy is one of the best methods for in situ characterization of solid/solid and solid/solution interfaces. It lends itself to in situ studies of surfaces under various coatings and processes, surface magnetism and the effect of the gas phase on the properties of the surface layers and the structure and magnetic properties of epitaxially grown monolayers on the surface of oriented single crystals.
