Book Description
We report a search for CP violation in the decay?− →?−K{sub S}°({>=} 0?°)?{sub?} using a dataset of 437 million {tau} lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 476 fb−1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy ee− storage rings. The CP-violating decay-rate asymmetry is determined to be ( -0.45 ± 0.24 ± 0.11)%, approximately three standard deviations from the Standard Model prediction of (0.33 ± 0.01)%.

Book Description
In the Standard Model no CP violation can occur in decay processes involving leptons either as a parent or a daughter because these processes involve one W exchange and thus, even if the CP violating complex coupling exists in these decays, its effect will not show up when the amplitude is squared. The author needs two diagrams to interfere with each other to see the CP violating effects. Here, he discusses ways to find CP violation in the decay of [tau]{sup {+-}} → [nu]{sub [tau]} + 3[pi] from unpolarized as well as polarized {tau}{sup {+-}}.

Book Description
If CP is violated in any decay process involving leptons it will signify the existence of a new scalar boson (called the X boson) responsible for CP violation that may be the key to understanding matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. The authors discuss the signatures of CP violation in (1) the decay of tau and mu leptons, and (2) the semileptonic decay of[pi], K, D, B and t particles by measuring the polarization of the charged lepton in the decay. The authors discuss how the coupling constants and their phases of the coupling of the X boson to 9 quark vertices and 3 lepton vertices can be obtained through 12 decay processes.

Book Description
According to the Big Bang Theory, matter and antimatter were produced in equal amounts at the beginning. Over time the antimatter disappeared, leaving galactic struc- tures composed only of matter. Therefore, there is some process in nature that proceeds at different rates for matter and antimatter due to the violation of the CP symmetry. CP violation has been observed in strange and bottom quark meson decays. However, a direct CP violation is predicted in the? lepton sector. Specifically, the charge asymmetry due to CP violation in the decay?????K0S (? 0?0)?? is predicted to be (+0.33 ± 0.01)%. In this work the charge asymmetry of the decay?????K0S (? 0?0) v? is measured using a dataset of 437 million? lepton pairs collected by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The charge asymmetry induced by CP violation is found to be A = ( -0.45 ± 0.24 ± 0.11) %, consistent with prediction.

Addendum to the Test of CP Violation in Tau Decay

Book Description
We discuss the test of CP and CPT violation in Tau decay without using the polarized electron beam by comparing partial fractions of tau( - ) and tau(+) decay into channels with strong final state interactions. For example, gamma(tau( - ) right arrow pi( - ) + pi(0) + nu) not equal gamma(tau(+) right arrow pi(+) + pi(0) + nu) signifies violation of CP. The optimum energy to investigate CP violation in tau decay is discussed. We conclude that this energy is a few MeV below psi(2s) in order to avoid the charm contribution and over abundance of hadrons at the psi(2s) peak.
