Measurement and Calculation of Electromagnetic Scattering by Buried Bodies of Revolution
Electromagnetic Wave Scattering by Partially-Buried Metallic and Dielectric Objects
Author: K. K. Mei

ISBN:

Languages : en
Pages : 20
Book Description
The objective of this research is to study the feasibility of computing electromagnetic wave scattering by objects which are buried or partially buried in a lossy ground. The datas obtained through computer solutions of the related Maxwell's Equations can be applied to detection of plastic land mines, tunnels and natural resources. The method used in this investigation is based on the Unimoment method, a unique hybrid of analytical and numerical methods. The extension of the method to include lossy ground half-space was made possible by the development of special eigenfunctions which include the continuity of the air-ground interface. Results were obtained for scattering by buried body of revolution, buried body of revolution with arbitrary orientation and two-body scattering.

Finite Element and Finite Difference Methods in Electromagnetic Scattering
Author: M.A. Morgan
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483289532
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 398
Book Description
This second volume in the Progress in Electromagnetic Research series examines recent advances in computational electromagnetics, with emphasis on scattering, as brought about by new formulations and algorithms which use finite element or finite difference techniques. Containing contributions by some of the world's leading experts, the papers thoroughly review and analyze this rapidly evolving area of computational electromagnetics. Covering topics ranging from the new finite-element based formulation for representing time-harmonic vector fields in 3-D inhomogeneous media using two coupled scalar potentials, to the consideration of conforming boundary elements and leap-frog time-marching in transient field problems involving corners and wedges in two and three dimensions, the volume will provide an indispensable reference source for practitioners and students of computational electromagnetics.

Book Description
Recent development in the unimoment method has brought finite difference and finite element methods into the computational techniques of electromagnetic scattering. In this paper the various finite methods and their potentials in the scattering computations are examined. A section on programming technique is included for those uninitiated and the applications of the finite methods in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional scattering problems, together with some of the associated computational subject matters are presented. (Author).
