He served as a private in the Revolutionary War. He married Catharine Anglin (1762-1857) orphaned daughter of James Anglin, in 1782. They had eleven children, ca. 1783-ca. 1808. He died in Wilkes County, in 1826. Descendants lived in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and elsewhere.
