Languages : en
Pages : 143

Book Description
The book includes topics, such as: path planning, avoiding obstacles, following the path, go-to-goal control, localization, and visual-based motion control. The theoretical concepts are illustrated with a developed control architecture with soft computing and artificial intelligence methods. The proposed vision-based motion control strategy involves three stages. The first stage consists of the overhead camera calibration and the configuration of the working environment. The second stage consists of a path planning strategy using several traditional path planning algorithms and proposed planning algorithm. The third stage consists of the path tracking process using previously developed Gauss and Decision Tree control approaches and the proposed Type-1 and Type-2 controllers. Two kinematic structures are utilized to acquire the input values of controllers. These are Triangle Shape-Based Controller Design, which was previously developed and Distance-Based Triangle Structure that is used for the first time in conducted experiments. Four different control algorithms, Type-1 fuzzy logic, Type-2 Fuzzy Logic, Decision Tree Control, and Gaussian Control have been used in overall system design. The developed system includes several modules that simplify characterizing the motion control of the robot and ensure that it maintains a safe distance without colliding with any obstacles on the way to the target. The topics of the book are extremely relevant in many areas of research, as well as in education in courses in computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering and in mathematics at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Elements of Robotics

Elements of Robotics PDF Author: Mordechai Ben-Ari
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319625330
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 311

Book Description
This open access book bridges the gap between playing with robots in school and studying robotics at the upper undergraduate and graduate levels to prepare for careers in industry and research. Robotic algorithms are presented formally, but using only mathematics known by high-school and first-year college students, such as calculus, matrices and probability. Concepts and algorithms are explained through detailed diagrams and calculations. Elements of Robotics presents an overview of different types of robots and the components used to build robots, but focuses on robotic algorithms: simple algorithms like odometry and feedback control, as well as algorithms for advanced topics like localization, mapping, image processing, machine learning and swarm robotics. These algorithms are demonstrated in simplified contexts that enable detailed computations to be performed and feasible activities to be posed. Students who study these simplified demonstrations will be well prepared for advanced study of robotics. The algorithms are presented at a relatively abstract level, not tied to any specific robot. Instead a generic robot is defined that uses elements common to most educational robots: differential drive with two motors, proximity sensors and some method of displaying output to the user. The theory is supplemented with over 100 activities, most of which can be successfully implemented using inexpensive educational robots. Activities that require more computation can be programmed on a computer. Archives are available with suggested implementations for the Thymio robot and standalone programs in Python.

Fuzzy Logic Techniques for Autonomous Vehicle Navigation

Fuzzy Logic Techniques for Autonomous Vehicle Navigation PDF Author: Dimiter Driankov
Publisher: Physica
ISBN: 3790818356
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 388

Book Description
In the past decade a critical mass of work that uses fuzzy logic for autonomous vehicle navigation has been reported. Unfortunately, reports of this work are scattered among conference, workshop, and journal publications that belong to different research communities (fuzzy logic, robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent control) and it is therefore not easily accessible either to the new comer or to the specialist. As a result, researchers in this area may end up reinventing things while being unaware of important existing work. We believe that research and applications based on fuzzy logic in the field of autonomous vehicle navigation have now reached a sufficient level of maturity, and that it should be suitably reported to the largest possible group of interested practitioners, researches, and students. On these grounds, we have endeavored to collect some of the most representative pieces of work in one volume to be used as a reference. Our aim was to provide a volume which is more than "yet another random collection of papers," and gives the reader some added value with respect to the individual papers. In order to achieve this goal we have aimed at: • Selecting contributions which are representative of a wide range of prob lems and solutions and which have been validated on real robots; and • Setting the individual contributions in a clear framework, that identifies the main problems of autonomous robotics for which solutions based on fuzzy logic have been proposed.

Practical Applications of Fuzzy Technologies

Practical Applications of Fuzzy Technologies PDF Author: Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 146154601X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 680

Book Description
Since the late 1980s, a large number of very user-friendly tools for fuzzy control, fuzzy expert systems, and fuzzy data analysis have emerged. This has changed the character of this area and started the area of `fuzzy technology'. The next large step in the development occurred in 1992 when almost independently in Europe, Japan and the USA, the three areas of fuzzy technology, artificial neural nets and genetic algorithms joined forces under the title of `computational intelligence' or `soft computing'. The synergies which were possible between these three areas have been exploited very successfully. Practical Applications of Fuzzy Sets focuses on model and real applications of fuzzy sets, and is structured into four major parts: engineering and natural sciences; medicine; management; and behavioral, cognitive and social sciences. This book will be useful for practitioners of fuzzy technology, scientists and students who are looking for applications of their models and methods, for topics of their theses, and even for venture capitalists who look for attractive possibilities for investments.

Wheeled Mobile Robot Control

Wheeled Mobile Robot Control PDF Author: Nardênio Almeida Martins
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030779122
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 209

Book Description
This book focuses on the development and methodologies of trajectory control of differential-drive wheeled nonholonomic mobile robots. The methodologies are based on kinematic models (posture and configuration) and dynamic models, both subject to uncertainties and/or disturbances. The control designs are developed in rectangular coordinates obtained from the first-order sliding mode control in combination with the use of soft computing techniques, such as fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks. Control laws, as well as online learning and adaptation laws, are obtained using the stability analysis for both the developed kinematic and dynamic controllers, based on Lyapunov’s stability theory. An extension to the formation control with multiple differential-drive wheeled nonholonomic mobile robots in trajectory tracking tasks is also provided. Results of simulations and experiments are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies for trajectory tracking situations, considering the parameters of an industrial and a research differential-drive wheeled nonholonomic mobile robot, the PowerBot. Supplementary materials such as source codes and scripts for simulation and visualization of results are made available with the book.

Analysis and Synthesis of Fuzzy Control Systems

Analysis and Synthesis of Fuzzy Control Systems PDF Author: Gang Feng
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1420092650
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 299

Book Description
Fuzzy logic control (FLC) has proven to be a popular control methodology for many complex systems in industry, and is often used with great success as an alternative to conventional control techniques. However, because it is fundamentally model free, conventional FLC suffers from a lack of tools for systematic stability analysis and controller design. To address this problem, many model-based fuzzy control approaches have been developed, with the fuzzy dynamic model or the Takagi and Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy model-based approaches receiving the greatest attention. Analysis and Synthesis of Fuzzy Control Systems: A Model-Based Approach offers a unique reference devoted to the systematic analysis and synthesis of model-based fuzzy control systems. After giving a brief review of the varieties of FLC, including the T–S fuzzy model-based control, it fully explains the fundamental concepts of fuzzy sets, fuzzy logic, and fuzzy systems. This enables the book to be self-contained and provides a basis for later chapters, which cover: T–S fuzzy modeling and identification via nonlinear models or data Stability analysis of T–S fuzzy systems Stabilization controller synthesis as well as robust H∞ and observer and output feedback controller synthesis Robust controller synthesis of uncertain T–S fuzzy systems Time-delay T–S fuzzy systems Fuzzy model predictive control Robust fuzzy filtering Adaptive control of T–S fuzzy systems A reference for scientists and engineers in systems and control, the book also serves the needs of graduate students exploring fuzzy logic control. It readily demonstrates that conventional control technology and fuzzy logic control can be elegantly combined and further developed so that disadvantages of conventional FLC can be avoided and the horizon of conventional control technology greatly extended. Many chapters feature application simulation examples and practical numerical examples based on MATLAB®.
