L'immunisation contre l'influenza demeure le moyen le plus efficace de prévenir cette maladie et ses complications. C'est pourquoi la vaccination annuelle contre l'influenza est recommandée au Québec. En 2000, en plus des groupes généralement ciblés, le Programme québécois de vaccination contre l'influenza a été élargi aux personnes de 60 64 ans, et l'inclusion de celles de 50-59 était alors prévue pour les années subséquentes. La présente étude a été réalisée dans le but d'identifier les stratégies à utiliser pour rejoindre les Québécois de 50-64 ans et d'évaluer l'acceptabilité et la faisabilité de ces stratégies. Un devis mixte, qualitatif et quantitatif a été utilisé. À l'automne 2001, 29 experts ont tout d'abord été consultés selon la méthode Delphi. Cette consultation a permis d'identifier plusieurs interventions spécifiques parmi de nombreuses catégories ou stratégies d'action. Une étude descriptive transversale a ensuite été effectuée auprès d'un échantillon aléatoire stratifié de 1 000 Québécois âgés de 50 à 64 ans à qui on a posté un questionnaire autoadministré à l'hiver 2002 afin d'évaluer l'acceptabilité des interventions identifiées par les experts. Les antécédents de vaccination contre l'influenza ont également été identifiés. Finalement, un retour auprès du même groupe d'experts (n = 21) au printemps 2002, selon la méthode Delphi, a permis d'évaluer la faisabilité et l'applicabilité des interventions retenues par la population.
