Book Description
Excerpt from Reviews of Patent Law Books The first section comprising the first 135 pages of the book takes up, philosophically, the meaning of law and of patent law from the standpoint of philosophy. This section is a necessary prelude to the author's system of treat ment and if in spots this reviewer had to gasp for breath, that may be laid to his own more limited knowledge of philosophy. It was readable at all points and it amply repays for itself in that it laid the foundation on which the patent law must be based. The latter part of this first section is a summary treatment, section by section, of the principles of patent law and it should be useful to any general practitioner in understanding what the meaning and purpose of patent law is. Patents

Patents PDF Author: William Evarts Richards
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9780656978786
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 60

Book Description
Excerpt from Patents: Law and Practice This little booklet is not intended to be exhaustive in any particular. It is designed to serve as a convenient handbook, presenting in con cise form for ready reference the features most necessary to be available to lawyers, manufacturers and inventors to enable them to readily understand the leading points of the law and practice on this important subject matter, and to take the necessary steps to secure protection for this class of property. Mr. Richards, now deceased, the original founder of' our firm, who was the author of the first edition of this booklet, was guided in his selection of the material herein by the questions most frequently propounded by clients, and endeavored to compile the law and prac tice with respect to these questions in a comprehensive, logical man ner, having in mind the necessity for brevity and conciseness. Practically all the matter contained herein is based directly upon the Revised Statutes, the Rules of Practice of the United States Patent Office and the decisions of the Courts and Commissioners of Patents. The author has purposely refrained from giving the citations of decisions and authorities, feeling that if the pamphlet were inter spersed with numerous citations, the impression might be made that it was intended for a complete treatise and many might be deterred from a reading thereof. This second edition has been carefully re vised and enlarged by the addition of subject matter which we feel properly falls within the scope of a booklet of this character. For fuller information reference should be had to the Patent Law, the Rules of Practice of the United States Patent Office, the decisions of, the United States Court in patent matters, and the Various text books upon the subject, which are usually to be found in most law and public libraries.
