Menzies, the Translator of Tholuck on the Epistle to the Romans Christian. Dr. Brown, in his late elaborate ex position of this passage, finds that, in certain circumstances, it is right to rebel; and that cer tain taxes, instead of being conscientiously paid, ought to be refused at the hazard of life and property. In reviewing his Lectures, I have pointed out no fewer than thirty false principles and assumptions, and the work could have af forded me many others.
