La présente étude se propose d'approcher la notion de "réussite" à l'université dans une perspective critique et interdisciplinaire. Pour servir cette ambition, nous avons mobilisé un appareillage conceptuel issu de deux disciplines : les Sciences de l'Information et de la Communication (SIC) et les Sciences de l'Éducation (SED). Les objectifs de notre démarche sont triples, et visent à : ÉVALUER l'influence des pratiques informationnelles des étudiants sur la validation de la première année universitaire ; MESURER l'appropriation de la formation documentaire dispensée par les bibliothécaires auprès des étudiants formés (L1) ; QUESTIONNER, d'une part la relation entre bibliothécaires et enseignants, et d'autre part leurs actions respectives pour l'acquisition des compétences informationnelles chez les étudiants. Enfin, nous nous intéresserons à la représentation de la notion de "réussite" à l'université en interrogeant les trois groupes d'acteurs étudiés (étudiants, enseignants et bibliothécaires).

Au croisement des études sur la réussite à l'université, la culture informationnelle et plus largement la culture numérique, l'étude de cas proposée interroge les liens entre les apprentissages en ligne et les pratiques et compétences informationnelles des étudiants. Une première enquête a permis d'identifier les profils académiques et sociologiques des étudiants inscrits dans un dispositif de remise à niveau et d'aide à l'orientation proposé par l'université de Strasbourg. D'autres enquêtes et tests ont été menés pour connaître les pratiques informationnelles de ces étudiants dans les contextes de formation en ligne et évaluer leurs compétences à l'entrée et à la sortie du dispositif. Les résultats montrent que notre population ne correspond pas au profil type de l'étudiant en échec. Par ailleurs, nos conclusions rejoignent en partie nos hypothèses sur la pauvreté des pratiques informationnelles en e-learning et le manque de compétences expertes dans ce domaine malgré les modules de formation suivis par ces étudiants.

This book offers an authoritative study of election observation in Africa and its relation with democratization processes. Election observation is a hotly debated issue in contemporary international relations and in political science. It is seen by donor- countries and the international community as a means to enhance democratization, but has been controversial with regard to the `mandates' of the observers, the cases of its misappropriation by authoritarian governments and its masking of other donor-country interests. The book addresses fundamental issues of elections and democrat-ization in Africa, evaluation policies and implementation, as well as the historical backgrounds. A range of case studies leads to new interpretations, which challenge previous empiricist accounts of election observation in Africa. Greater attention to historical and cultural context is required than has been present in previous, somewhat prescriptive accounts. All forms of recreational digital consumption – whether on smartphones, tablets, game consoles or TVs – have skyrocketed in the younger generations. From the age of 2, children in the West clock up more than 2.5 hours of screen time a day; by the time they reach 13, it’s more than 7 hours a day.
