Book Description
Established in 1798, Milton Academy had always had a proud history of achievement, integrity, and pride—until a sex scandal rocked the campus and made headlines in the spring of 2005. Written by two Milton graduates who know this world—and these students—like no others, Restless Virgins follows a group of seniors who were there as the "incident" (as it came to be called) unfolded. Startling, riveting, important, and true, it offers an honest, intimate look at the real lives of today's teens—an eye-opening yet sensitive depiction of normal kids with normal struggles that no teen, parent, or educator can afford to ignore.

Book Description
An honest, intimate look at the lives of today's teens—told through the true experiences of friends at a New England prep school Established in 1798, Milton Academy has a proud history of achievement. It has educated artists and CEOs; it has produced a long line of distinguished scholars and dignitaries; and it has shepherded students through the world of high-pressure academics for generations. Since its founding, the public face of Milton had always been one of integrity and pride . . . until a sex scandal rocked the campus and made headlines in the spring of 2005. The offense? Teenagers doing no more than what others had done before them—except this time they got caught. Restless Virgins is the riveting real-life story of a group of seniors who were there as the "incident" (as it came to be called) unfolded: Whitney, the athletic and sensual beauty every girl wants to be; Annie, who craves acceptance but is torn between the desire for peer approval and musical success; Jillian, the smart one who is sick of high school drama and desperate to go to college; and Reed, a "hockey god" who has it all but whose charisma masks a secret insecurity. From "friends with benefits" to STDs, today's teens face a wider array of social and sexual opportunities—and pressures—than ever before. Through its eye-opening yet sensitive depiction of a group of normal kids with normal struggles, Restless Virgins offers an important look at contemporary adolescence no teen, parent, or educator can afford to miss. And it is written by two recent Milton graduates who know this world—and these students—like no others.

Rockin' on the Rideau 2: The 70's PDF Author: Jim Hurcomb

Pages : 248

Book Description
In his first book “Rockin’ on the Rideau: Ottawa’s Golden Age of Rock and Roll”, veteran Ottawa broadcaster and musicologist Jim Hurcomb pulled back the curtain on the first 15 years of Rock and Roll in Ottawa, from 1955-1970. That fascinating story continues in “Rockin’ on the Rideau 2: The 70’s”. It was the decade when Ottawa welcomed some of the biggest bands in the world to town, including Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Queen, Kiss, David Bowie and many, many others. Rock FM radio arrived in Ottawa, and Geoff Winter, Brian Murphy, Shelly Hartman and Delmer and Cecil on CHEZ 106 became household names. We lined up to get into Barrymore’s and the Black Swan, and travelled across the river to enjoy Red Hot and Larkspur at The Ottawa House or the legendary Chaud, run by the mighty Gerry Barber. Midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Towne Cinema were wild, boisterous parties, and Punk Rock burst on the scene when The Rotter’s Club opened on Bank Street. And, of course, we had the great local bands: Octavian, The Cooper Brothers, Heaven’s Radio, Avalon, The Action, Tokyo Rose and Bolt Upright and the Erections, to name a few. Relive the best days and nights of your lives, with “Rockin’ On The Rideau 2: The 70’s".

Pages : 370

Book Description
Tender Is the Night is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In 1932, Fitzgerald's wife Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald was hospitalized for schizophrenia in Baltimore, Maryland. The author rented the "la Paix" estate in the suburb of Towson to work on this book, the story of the rise and fall of Dick Diver, a promising young psychoanalyst and his wife, Nicole, who is also one of his patients. While working on the book he several times ran out of cash and had to borrow from his editor and agent, and write short stories for commercial magazines. The early 1930s, when Fitzgerald was conceiving and working on the book, were certainly the darkest years of his life, and accordingly, the novel has its bleak elements. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigmatic writings of the Jazz Age, a term he coined. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.
