Independent variables, included micro (age, sex, attending school, having a job, having a source of income, alcohol consumption), meso (living with both parents, parental monitoring, parental communication, partner communication, peers{u2019} influence) and macro-level (urban environment and instant messaging). ISBN:
Category : Behavior disorders in children
Languages : en
Pages : 20

Book Description
This report compares three measures of emotional and behavioral problems, using data for children aged 4-17 years old from the 2001-2007 National Health Interview Survey in the United States. The measures were a brief version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, a single answer checkbox on the survey, or a combination of both. The findings indicate that the recorded prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems depends on the measure selected.

Voice and Agency

Voice and Agency PDF Author: Jeni Klugman

Category : Business & Economics

Pages : 239

Book Description
"The 2012 report recognized that expanding women's agency - their ability to make decisions and take advantage of opportunities is key to improving their lives as well as the world. This report represents a major advance in global knowledge on this critical front. The vast data and thousands of surveys distilled in this report cast important light on the nature of constraints women and girls continue to face globally. This report identifies promising opportunities and entry points for lasting transformation, such as interventions that reach across sectors and include life-skills training, sexual and reproductive health education, conditional cash transfers, and mentoring. It finds that addressing what the World Health Organization has identified as an epidemic of violence against women means sharply scaling up engagement with men and boys. The report also underlines the vital role information and communication technologies can play in amplifying women's voices, expanding their economic and learning opportunities, and broadening their views and aspirations. The World Bank Group's twin goals of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity demand no less than the full and equal participation of women and men, girls and boys, around the world." -- Publisher's description.

World Report on Child Injury Prevention

World Report on Child Injury Prevention PDF Author: M. M. Peden
Publisher: World Health Organization
ISBN: 9241563575
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
Child injuries are largely absent from child survival initiatives presently on the global agenda. Through this report, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund and many partners have set out to elevate child injury to a priority for the global public health and development communities. It should be seen as a complement to the UN Secretary-General's study on violence against children released in late 2006 (that report addressed violence-related or intentional injuries). Both reports suggest that child injury and violence prevention programs need to be integrated into child survival and other broad strategies focused on improving the lives of children. Evidence demonstrates the dramatic successes in child injury prevention in countries which have made a concerted effort. These results make a case for increasing investments in human resources and institutional capacities. Implementing proven interventions could save more than a thousand children's lives a day.--p. vii.
