La presente tesis obra sobre el uso de estrategias de aprendizaje en un instituto especializado en la enseñanza del idioma inglés. En este trabajo surge la pregunta: ¿Las estrategias de aprendizaje que los docentes del Instituto Especializado de Idiomas de Puebla AC utilizan generan aprendizajes significativos que pueden ser observados en la producción oral de los estudiantes? Se investigó sobre la labor del docente en el aprendizaje del alumno; las estrategias de aprendizaje empleadas en el aprendizaje de un segundo idioma; y la teoría del aprendizaje significativo de David Ausubel. Esta investigación se llevó a cabo siguiendo los lineamientos que estípula el método cualitativo. El estudio fue fenomenológico, ya que se describió un problema en su contexto real. El método que se empleo fue el método evaluativo, y las técnicas de investigación que se utilizaron fueron: la observación, el análisis del contenido y la entrevista. Se observaron 12 clases presenciales, se analizaron las clases prediseñadas que los docentes observados utilizaron como base para la planificación de sus clases, y se entrevistó a 4 docentes. Los resultados obtenidos se codificaron en bitácoras de análisis del contenido. Teniendo como base esas rejillas, se procedió con los procesos de comparación, contrastación y de interpretación de resultados, también se realizó una triangulación con todos los resultados obtenidos. El resultado general de esta investigación fue positivo.
