A Guide to the Immigration Act 2016

A Guide to the Immigration Act 2016 PDF Author: Alison Harvey
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1784519308
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 565

Book Description
A Guide to The Immigration Act 2016 is produced in association with ILPA and provides a clear and straightforward explanation to the provisions of this legislation, with relevant commentary following each section of the Act. Those litigating will be able to identify all relevant sources and materials rapidly. Practitioners from other areas of law affected by the provisions in the context of housing, social welfare and employment law will be able rapidly to navigate these complex provisions and to understand them. The UK Government stated that its purpose in bringing forward this legislation was to tackle illegal immigration by making it harder to live and work in the United Kingdom without permission. The Immigration Act 2016 not only makes changes to immigration law and practice but also extends immigration control into other areas such as housing, social welfare and employment to create the 'hostile environment' envisaged. The approach is to summarise each provision of the Act and to set it within both its political and legal context, providing full legal references as well identifying relevant guidance, supporting materials and statements from parliamentary debates. The aim of the publication is to provide practitioners and academic and political commentators with a comprehensive guide to the Act, the bulk of the work being comments on the legal provisions interleaved with each section of the Act.

Honour Based Crimes and the Law

Honour Based Crimes and the Law PDF Author: Mukaddes Gorar
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1000386988
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 196

Book Description
Honour based violence and abuse manifests itself in different forms, and this book offers a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon. This book argues that the limits of honour crimes must be defined more widely so that they include conducts and behaviours that originate from the patriarchal notion of honour, such as honour based oppression and breast ironing. The book provides a critical analysis and synthesis of the law in England and Wales and in the international human rights sphere. The relevant domestic legislation and cases are examined to reflect on whether adequate protection is provided for the victims and potential victims of honour based violence and abuse. Since honour based violence is a violation of human rights, the relevant international human rights law is examined to illustrate the perception of such crimes in the international arena. The effectiveness of any remedy for victims of honour based violence and abuse depends on its capability to change deep rooted behaviours in communities with honour based patriarchal values. This book argues that the law does not provide the effective impact required, in part due to patriarchal structures, and that more efforts should be dedicated to changes in education. It is held that there is a need for an educational programme that is especially designed to tackle violence and promote gender equality. The book will be essential reading for academics, researchers and policy-makers working in the areas of Human Rights Law, Criminal Law and Gender Studies.

Publisher: Food & Agriculture Org.
ISBN: 9251091854
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 204

Book Description
This issue of The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture aims to provide objective, reliable and up-to- ate data and information to a wide range of readers – policy-makers, managers, scientists, stakeholders and indeed all those interested in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. As always, the scope is global and the topics many and varied. This edition uses the latest official statistics on fisheries and aquaculture to present a global analysis of trends in fish stocks, production, processing, utilization, trade and consumption. It also reports on the status of the world’s fishing fleets and analyses the make-up of human engagement in the sector. Twenty years on from the introduction of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Conduct, and now with the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Paris Agreement, and the Small-Scale Fisheries Guidelines, the focus on governance and policy has never been greater. This edition covers recent developments as they relate to fisheries and aquaculture, and reports, inter alia, on the Common Oceans ABNJ Program, FAO’s Blue Growth Initiative and efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. It also discusses issues such as valuing inland fisheries, cutting bycatch and promoting decent work. Other topics highlighted include: nutrition; aquatic invasive alien species; responsible inland fisheries; resilience in fisheries and aquaculture; and governance of tenure and user rights.
