Excerpt from Report of the Operations of the Engineer Department of the District of Columbia: For the Year Ended June 30, 1926 The Anacostia pumping station has been Operated without inter ruption during the year, pumping to the three towers supplying the area east of the Anacostia River. This station is taken care of by four enginemen who work on eight-hour shifts. The water pumped for this service during the year was gallons, or a mean of gallons daily. The total pumpage for the year at the District pum ing station was gallons more than in 1924 - 25. T e greatest amount pumped in one day (june 30) was gallons; least in one day (august 2) was and the average dynamic head against pumps was feet. The total operating expenses (excluding overhead) chargeable to umping was against in 1924 - 25, making the total Operative cost (ex cluding overhead) of pumping gallons of water into the mains which is per million gallons less than in 1924 - 25.
