Book Description
A mommy blogger gone bad… Jess McAdams dotes on her four children and gives advice and suggestions to parents all around the world. No one would ever question her love and devotion to her children, let alone suspect her of murdering one. But Alex Mercer does. Alex has plenty of experience investigating crimes involving missing kids. So when he senses something is wrong, he trusts his instincts. He receives a tip that Jess has suddenly stopped posting about one of her children. It’s almost as if he never existed, except her old blog posts show otherwise. The deeper Alex digs, the more twisted and sinister things look... His only chance at finding the proof he needs is by using resources he's been denied. But Alex will stop at nothing until he finds the mommy blogger and saves the children he knows are in danger—even at the risk of losing his dream job—because he knows he's right. And with young lives on the line, there's a lot more at stake than his career. ★★★★★ "What a rollercoaster ride!" ★★★★★ "Riveting thriller!" ★★★★★ "One heck of a read..."

To Encourage the Others
Author: David Yallop
Publisher: Hachette UK
ISBN: 1472116607
Category : True Crime
Languages : en
Pages : 321
Book Description
The Murder Case that Shook a Generation On 2nd November 1952, two teenagers were trapped by police on a warehouse roof. In the course of what the national press were to describe as 'a Chicago-style gun battle', P.C. Sidney Miles was shot between the eyes and died. 16-year-old Christopher Craig and 19-year-old Derek Bentley were subsequently arrested and sent to trial. They came to personify the disaffected youth of post-war Britain, but Derek Bentley became much more. His story and ultimate fate are unique in the annals of criminal history. Originally published in 1971, and the subject of a controversial television play, To Encourage the Others dramatically re-opens a case which still demands that justice be done. There are many reasons why David Yallop is considered the world's greatest investigative author. To Encourage the Others is one of them: as powerful an argument against capital punishment as has ever been published.

Report by the Health Service Ombudsman for England and Local Government Ombudsman on a Joint Investigation Into a Complaint Made by Mrs L
Author: Great Britain. Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780102984163
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 51
Book Description
Mrs L complained about the care that her father, the late Mr M, received at a Wakefield Metropolitan District Council-funded care home, Hazel Garth and from a visiting community nurse funded by NHS Wakefield District Primary Care Trust. Mr M was visited by the nurse on 13 October 2009 to deal with a problem with a catheter. Later that day he became unwell and was taken to hospital, where he was treated for urinary sepsis as well as a grade 4 necrotic (dead tissue) pressure ulcer on his sacrum. He was treated with antibiotics and recovered somewhat, but he died on 23 November 2009. Mrs L was not satisfied with the responses to her complaints to the Council and the Trust, and complained to the Ombudsmen. Their investigations find service failure by both Council and Trust for the care provided in the home and by the nurse. They also found failings in record keeping at the home and maladministration by both Council and Trust in dealing with Mrs L's complaints. The Council and the Trust's successor (Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group) are instructed, within three months: to write to Mrs L apologising for the service failures and distress caused by the maladministration; to compensate her for the poor complaint handling; and to prepare action plans that describe what they have done to ensure they have learnt the lessons from the failings identified and what they have done or plan to do to avoid a recurrence.
