Pages : 33

Book Description
This report examined the current method for assessing the performance of the depot level exchangeable repair process. As a result of our analysis, the author proposes the development of a new system for measuring this performance. The system we propose is a series of five data screens. Three screens provide item level data for repair prioritization execution and detailed repair analysis purposes. Two screens aggregate important portions of the item level data and portray it by unit, section, division, Air Logistics Center, Air Force Logistics Command, or by weapon system. As a result of this development effort, the author recommends changes to policy effecting the way AFLC measures depot level repair performance. Keywords: Air Force Logistics Command. (kr).

Performance Analysis of Manufacturing Systems

Performance Analysis of Manufacturing Systems PDF Author: Tayfur Altiok
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461219248
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 366

Book Description
Manufacturing industries are devoted to producing high-quality products in the most economical and timely manner. Quality, economics, and time not only indicate the customer-satisfaction level, but also measure the manufacturing per formance of a company. Today's manufacturing environments are becoming more and more complex, flexible, and information-intensive. Companies invest into the information technologies such as computers, communication networks, sensors, actuators, and other equipment that give them an abundance of information about their materials and resources. In the face of global competition, a manufacturing company's survival is becoming more dependent on how best this influx of in formation is utilized. Consequently, there evolves a great need for sophisticated tools of performance analysis that use this information to help decision makers in choosing the right course of action. These tools will have the capability of data analysis, modeling, computer simulation, and optimization for use in designing products and processes. International competition also has had its impact on manufacturing education and the government's support of it in the US. We see more courses offered in this area in industrial engineering and manufacturing systems engineering departments, operations research programs, and business schools. In fact, we see an increasing number of manufacturing systems engineering departments and manufacturing research centers in universities not only in the US but also in Europe, Japan, and many developing countries.

Book Description
A multinational company, when a customer unit is damaged or broken and it is under repair, pays a lot of attention to the repair process of the unit and works for optimising the process but also, to offer the best customer experience. On the repair process there are a lot of steps and times to follow to offer a good customer experience. Also, the customer satisfaction and feelings related to the process is very important for the operations and the multinational, as it is part of the external image and it is taken into consideration when analysing how the repair has been performed. In this study, focused on the Personal Computers repaired in CEMA region, we analyse how an impact of a step on the repair process affects the overall repair time, how the times affect customer satisfaction and we analyse how these metrics are related, in order to know a way to approach the weekly review meetings where the management chain reviews the performance and decide which actions to perform to improve the quality offered and the customer satisfaction.

Thermal Power Plant Performance Analysis

Thermal Power Plant Performance Analysis PDF Author: Gilberto Francisco Martha de Souza
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1447123093
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 289

Book Description
The analysis of the reliability and availability of power plants is frequently based on simple indexes that do not take into account the criticality of some failures used for availability analysis. This criticality should be evaluated based on concepts of reliability which consider the effect of a component failure on the performance of the entire plant. System reliability analysis tools provide a root-cause analysis leading to the improvement of the plant maintenance plan. Taking in view that the power plant performance can be evaluated not only based on thermodynamic related indexes, such as heat-rate, Thermal Power Plant Performance Analysis focuses on the presentation of reliability-based tools used to define performance of complex systems and introduces the basic concepts of reliability, maintainability and risk analysis aiming at their application as tools for power plant performance improvement, including: · selection of critical equipment and components, · definition of maintenance plans, mainly for auxiliary systems, and · execution of decision analysis based on risk concepts. The comprehensive presentation of each analysis allows future application of the methodology making Thermal Power Plant Performance Analysis a key resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students in mechanical and nuclear engineering.

Frontiers in Enterprise Integration

Frontiers in Enterprise Integration PDF Author: Li D. Xu
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000116263
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 479

Book Description
Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) integrate and support business processes across functional boundaries in a supply chain environment, and have become increasingly popular over the last 15 years. In recent years, more and more enterprises world-wide have adopted EIS such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for running their businesses. Previously, information systems such as CAD, CAM, MRPII and CRM were widely used for partial functional integration within a business organization. With global operation, global supply chain, and fierce competition in place, there is a need for suitable EIS such as ERP, E-Business or E-Commerce systems to integrate extended enterprises in a supply chain environment with the objective of achieving efficiency, competency, and competitiveness. As a result, there is a growing demand for researching EIS to provide insights into challenges, issues, and solutions related to the design, implementation and management of EIS. The papers in Advances in Enterprise Information Systems were selected from two premier international conferences: the International Forum of Information Systems Frontiers—Xian International Symposium (IFISF), June 29-30, 2006, Xian, China and the IFIP TC 8.9 International Conference on Research and Practical Issues of Enterprise Information Systems (Confenis 2007), October 14-16, Beijing, China. Both events provided an excellent opportunity for EIS academicians and practitioners in the world to gather and exchange ideas, and present original research in their fields. Advances in Enterprise Information Systems will be invaluable to scientists, researchers and professionals in EIS.
