Book Description
Wolf shifter Remy Mayfield, son of an Angel Mate, was destined to be alpha of his own pack. Because there was already an alpha of the Tressel Pack, he packed up and left his family and friends behind to find a pack of his own. When he’s asked to come back to his hometown for his friend’s mating ceremony, he doesn’t expect anything more exciting then spending time with his family and a full moon hunt with his dad and brother. Thyme Olsen is next in line of her wildcat pride but she’s got a huge problem. Without a mate by her side, she can’t take over the pride. Her half-brother is about to turn twenty-one, when he’ll be able to challenge her for the right to take over the pride. To add to her troubles, her pride’s hunting territory has gone dead thanks to factory pollution. She heads out on the full moon to find new hunting grounds and runs right through a wolf pack’s territory and finds herself face-to-face with a group of wolves who think she’s prey. When Remy and Thyme meet, sparks fly and she’s thankful her mate is a strong and capable alpha ready to take over the pride with her. But there are wildcats in the pride who don’t want Thyme and Remy to take over, and they’ll do anything in their power to ensure they won’t become alphas. When everything is on the line, can Remy save Thyme and stop the ones who want to hurt her, or will their life together be over before it starts?

Book Description
Angel Cooper didn’t expect to love working at a campground run by hyena shifters in Pennsylvania, but she feels like she’s finally found the place she belongs. She’s happier than she’s ever been, even if she wouldn’t mind meeting Mr. Right sometime soon. Her sort-of adopted sister, Brierley, is certain that Angel is meant to be the special mate to a hyena clan, but Angel’s not so sure. Brin, Ian, and Quill Mercer left home with their father’s ashes and their tails between their legs. They’d spent the better part of their lives believing that their father had found the perfect mate for them, but it had all been a terrible lie. Brin and Quill are ready to move on and find a special woman to share for the rest of their lives, but middle brother Ian can’t let go of the pain that their father’s obsession and betrayal left him with. Ian doesn’t trust himself to be their clan’s protector, and deals with his sleepless nights by joining an underground were-fighting tournament. Fighting keeps him sane, but not happy. When Angel heads into the woods to pick flowers, she follows an enticing scent to a campsite, where she meets the three sexiest men she’s ever laid eyes on. Ian explains the violent way he’s been spending his nights, but after meeting her, he’s walking away from the fights for good. Not everyone is happy about Ian’s change of heart, and when a sweet little owl shifter is caught in the crossfire, Ian will make sure that no one ever crosses his family again. Be prepared for three hyenas who will do anything to make their mate happy, a human with a heart big enough for her clan, sexy times galore, plenty of growling, and a happily ever after worth fighting for. Contains m/f/m/m interaction. *Contains a bonus 14,000 word novella - The Owl's Minotaur* Brierley Pine has spent the last nine months wondering what her future holds. Set free from her owl-shifter nest by a kind-hearted wolf named Bliss, she’s happy working in the hyena campground, but she’s ready to start the next chapter of her life. When her sort-of adopted sister, Angel, introduces Brierley to her new hyena mates, she has a dream about a man and knows that he’s her truemate. When Wallace, the owner of an illegal were-fighting group, tries to kidnap Angel to force her mate to continue to fight for him, Brierley is abducted instead. Although she’s frightened, she’s positive that Wallace knows where her truemate is. She’ll do anything to find him, even willingly go with her abductors. Axtyn, a rare minotaur shifter, is in trouble. Now that he’s reached the age of twenty-four, he’s losing the ability to control his shifted form. Twice in the illegal fights he’s lost control and shifted, killing his opponents. Wallace has relegated him to a bodyguard position and forbidden him from shifting. The only cure for his debilitating control issue is to find his truemate, but where she is or how to find her is a mystery. He just knows that unless he finds her soon, he’ll eventually shift into his minotaur form and be stuck like a monster forever. Axtyn will protect Brierley at any cost. When the fights are over, though, he’s not sure how he fits into his new mate’s world. Brierley refuses to give up on him, determined to build a life together. This book contains a feisty female owl, a minotaur who would die to keep his mate safe, and the illegal fights that bring them together.

Hoosiers and the American Story

Hoosiers and the American Story PDF Author: Madison, James H.
Publisher: Indiana Historical Society
ISBN: 0871953633
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 359

Book Description
A supplemental textbook for middle and high school students, Hoosiers and the American Story provides intimate views of individuals and places in Indiana set within themes from American history. During the frontier days when Americans battled with and exiled native peoples from the East, Indiana was on the leading edge of America’s westward expansion. As waves of immigrants swept across the Appalachians and eastern waterways, Indiana became established as both a crossroads and as a vital part of Middle America. Indiana’s stories illuminate the history of American agriculture, wars, industrialization, ethnic conflicts, technological improvements, political battles, transportation networks, economic shifts, social welfare initiatives, and more. In so doing, they elucidate large national issues so that students can relate personally to the ideas and events that comprise American history. At the same time, the stories shed light on what it means to be a Hoosier, today and in the past.

The clamour of nationalism

The clamour of nationalism PDF Author: Sivamohan Valluvan
Publisher: Manchester University Press
ISBN: 152612615X
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 276

Book Description
Nationalism has reasserted itself today as the political force of our times, remaking European politics wherever one looks. Britain is no exception, and in the midst of Brexit, it has even become a vanguard of nationalism’s confident return to the mainstream. Intellectual attempts to account for nationalism’s resurgence have however floundered. Desperately trying to read nationalism through one overarching cause – as capitalist crisis, as cultural backlash, or as social media led anti-Establishment politics – these accounts have proven woefully inadequate. This book argues that the only way to understand nationalism is through nationalism itself. To understand it as the key force of modernity that calls upon all existing ideological traditions in asserting its appeal: whether it is liberal, conservative, neoliberal or left-wing. This ideological clamour that characterises today’s British nationalism requires both recognition and theorisation. A meaningful understanding of new nationalism must reckon with the ideological range animating it and the deeply hostile aversion to different racial minorities that pervades its respective ideologies. Drawing on a variety of cultural and political themes – ranging from Corbyn’s dithering, the cult of Churchillism, the neoliberal fixation with a ‘point-system’ immigration policy, the muscular secularism of Richard Dawkins and friends, fears that the white working class have ‘become black’, and even simply the strange appeal of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones – this book provides a dazzling but always detailed study of how nationalism is the politics of today only because it is a politics of everything.

The Money Game in Old New York

The Money Game in Old New York PDF Author: Clifford Browder
Publisher: University Press of Kentucky
ISBN: 0813162246
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 336

Book Description
"I got to be a millionaire afore I know'd it hardly," remarked the Wall Street financier Daniel Drew (1797-1879). An uneducated farm boy from Putnam County, New York, he became in turn a successful cattle drover, a circus clown, tavern keeper, a shrewd Hudson River steamboat operator, and an unscrupulous speculator. As the colorful "Uncle Daniel" of Wall Street-his whiskered face seamed with wrinkles and twinkling with steel-gray eyes -- time and again he disrupted the financial markets with manipulations whereby he either won or lost millions of dollars. Having "got religion" upon hearing a scary hell-fire sermon at the age of fourteen, Drew was also a fervent Methodist. Rumors of his financial operations--epic struggles that pitted him against Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jay Gould, and Jim Fisk, and that subjected him to threats of arrest and even kidnapping, and on one occasion to a most undignified flight from the state-baffled and disturbed the Methodists, who admittedly had little grasp of Wall Street but knew firsthand Brother Drew's tearful repentance at prayer meetings and his generosity in founding churches and seminaries. With its dual commitment to religion and rascality, Drew's career is a rich study in contradictions, an exciting chronicle of high drama and low comedy capped by bankruptcy. To understand Drew in his complexity, the author argues, is to get a grip on the heady and exploitative age that produced him -- the yesterday of "smartness" and "go ahead" that helped engender the America of today. Based on primary sources, this is the first full-fledged biography of Drew, who hitherto has been known chiefly through a fictionalized and fraudulent account of 1910.

Champagne and Meatballs

Champagne and Meatballs PDF Author: Bert Whyte
Publisher: Athabasca University Press
ISBN: 1926836081
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 349

Book Description
Active for over 40 years with the Communist Party of Canada, Bert Whyte was a journalist, an underground party organizer and soldier during World War II, and a press correspondent in Beijing and Moscow. But any notion of him as a Communist Party hack would be mistaken. Whyte never let leftist ideology get in the way of a great yarn. In Champagne and Meatballs--a memoir written not long before his death in Moscow in 1984--we meet a cigar-smoking rogue who was at least as happy at a pool hall as at a political meeting. His stories of bumming across Canada in the 1930s, of combat and comaraderie at the front lines in World War II, and of surviving as a dissident in troubled times make for compelling reading. The manuscript of Champagne and Meatballs was brought to light and edited by historian Larry Hannant, who has written a fascinating and thought-provoking introduction to the text. Brash, irreverent, informative, and entertaining, Whyte's tale is history and biography accompanied by a wink of his eye--the left one, of course.
