Diquat Dibromide

Diquat Dibromide PDF Author:
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781100153926
Category : Herbicides
Languages : en
Pages : 15

Book Description
After a re-evaluation of the herbicide diquat dibromide (herein referred to as diquat), Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act and Regulations, is granting continued registration of products containing diquat for sale and use in Canada. Diquat is a herbicide that is used as a desiccant on terrestrial food and feed crops and on industrial oilseed and fibre crops. Diquat is also registered for weed control (chemical mowing) of non-cropland and as a restricted aquatic herbicide to control water weeds and algae in still and slow-moving waters of farm dugouts, ponds and ditches, and in lakes. The USEPA re-evaluated diquat and published its conclusions in a 1995 RED, the 2002 Report of the Food Quality Protection Act Tolerance Reassessment Progress and Risk Management Decision, and the notice of the label requirements modification published in the 2002 Federal Register. For more details on the information presented in this Re-evaluation Decision, please refer to the Science Evaluation in the related Proposed Re-evaluation Decision PRVD2008-12, Diquat Dibromide.--Document.

Herbicide Resistance in Weeds and Crops

Herbicide Resistance in Weeds and Crops PDF Author: J. C. Caseley
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 148310009X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 526

Book Description
Herbicide Resistance in Weeds and Crops is a collection of papers presented at the 11th Long Ashton International Symposium in September 1989. The said symposium is held to study about the increasing incidence of herbicide-resistant weeds and the consideration of the production of herbicide-resistant crops. The book includes studies that suggest the delay and prevention of herbicide resistance; the gravity of the infestation of different herbicide-resistant weed; the management of herbicide resistance; and the mechanisms of herbicide tolerance. Also covered in the book are the improvement of different herbicides, as well as the prospective development of genetically engineered herbicide-resistant plants. Botanists, biochemists, and farmers would greatly benefit from the text, especially those who would like to explore and study the phenomenon.

Trace Determination of Pesticides and their Degradation Products in Water (BOOK REPRINT)

Trace Determination of Pesticides and their Degradation Products in Water (BOOK REPRINT) PDF Author: Damia Barcelo
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 008054312X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 557

Book Description
Trace Determination of Pesticides and their Degradation Products in Water is a critical compilation of analytical methods for the monitoring of pesticides and their degradation products in water. It contains up-to-date material and is the result of the authors' experience in the pesticide analysis field. The book is structured in six chapters, starting from general aspects of pesticides like usage, physicochemical parameters and occurrence in the environment. A second chapter is devoted to sampling from water matrices, stability methods of pesticides in water and quality assurance issues. The general chromatographic methods for pesticides are reported, including the newly developed electrophoresis methods and GC-MS and LC-MS confirmatory analytical methods. Sample preparation methodologies, including off-line and on-line techniques are described in the next two chapters, with a comprehensive list of examples of pesticides and many metabolites, including the use of different GC-methods and LC-methods. The final chapter is devoted to the development of biological techniques, immunoassays and biosensors, for the trace determination of pesticides in water samples.

Fundamentals of Weed Science

Fundamentals of Weed Science PDF Author: Robert Zimdahl
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0323149421
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 465

Book Description
Fundamentals of Weed Science provides an introduction to the basic principles of weed science for undergraduate courses. It discusses several aspects of weed biology and control, and traces the history of herbicide development. The book begins with an introduction to weeds, covering their definition, characteristics, harmful aspects, and the cost of weed control. This is followed chapters on weed classification, the uses of weeds, weed biology, weed ecology, allelopathy, the significance of plant competition, weed management and control methods, and biological weed control. Later chapters deal with herbicidesthe most important weed control tools and the ones with the greatest potential for untoward effects. Students of weed science must understand herbicides and the factors governing their use as well as the potential for misuse. These chapters discuss chemical weed control, the properties and uses of herbicides, factors affecting herbicide performance, herbicide application, herbicide formulation, ecological impact of herbicides, pesticide registration and legislation, weed management systems, and the future of weed science.

Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides

Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides PDF Author: Rafael de Prado
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780792345817
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 366

Book Description
In recent decades, repeated use of herbicides in the same field has imposed selection for resistance in species that were formerly susceptible. On the other hand, considerable research in the private and public sectors has been directed towards introducing herbicide tolerance into susceptible crop species. The evolution of herbicide resistance, understanding its mechanisms, characterisation of resistant weed biotypes, development of herbicide-tolerant crops and management of resistant weeds are described throughout the 36 chapters of this book. It has been written by leading researchers based on the contributions made at the International Symposium on Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides held at Córdoba, Spain. This book will be a good reference source for research scientists and advanced students.
