Book Description
Finally! A workbook that guides you—and your family—through a positive college admission experience. College admission has always been complicated—and COVID-19 has changed the college search and selection process in profound and challenging ways. But the authors behind the best-selling The Truth about College Admission are here to help with a new college admission workbook that puts the complex process into the hands of students and those who support them. Packed with activities and exercises, it's designed to help students find multiple colleges where they can not only get in, afford to go, and thrive on campus but also enjoy the adventure along the way. From building a balanced list of schools to research and visit to writing essays, preparing for interviews, and ultimately choosing a college to attend, the interactive exercises in this comprehensive workbook provide students with important questions to ask, information to consider, and the preparation they need to help them focus more on how they ultimately arrive on a college campus rather than precisely where their journey takes them. If done right, college counselor Brennan Barnard and undergraduate admission director Rick Clark demonstrate, college admission can be more like the college experience itself—an opportunity to grow, learn, discover, enjoy, and build close, lasting relationships. A companion resource to The Truth about College Admission: A Family Guide to Getting In and Staying Together, each chapter in this guide is designed to help high school classes, small study groups, or individual students and their families focus on the most important questions to ask, steps to take, and conversations to have as they apply to college. Full of accurate information and experience-based insight, this workbook cuts out the noise and stress, instead encouraging students to reflect, research, and regain perspective.

Research On Efficiency And Fairness Of Resources Allocation By China's Governmental Administration

Research On Efficiency And Fairness Of Resources Allocation By China's Governmental Administration PDF Author: Hong Sheng
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813278625
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 438

Book Description
In China, the government controls a large part of resources, such as land, energy, bank savings, and so on. This book studies the efficiency and fairness of resources allocation by governmental administration in China. The book states that it is neither fair nor efficient to allocate resources by the governmental administrations. These resources should be allocated by the market. The book analyzes the resources allocation by government administration in three key areas namely education, health care, and land. A quantitive analysis is developed for describing more precisely the situation of unfairness in fiscal resources allocation. This book also describes how ordinary people address the misposition of resources by governmental administrations by migrating from the provinces with less resources to the provinces with more resources in education or health care. Thus, the book concludes that the actual allocation of resources is determined by the interactions between ordinary people and the government.

Equity Policies in Global Higher Education

Equity Policies in Global Higher Education PDF Author: Orlanda Tavares
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 303069691X
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 261

Book Description
This book discusses and analyses global policies and practices aimed at promoting equity in higher education participation and attainment. Although the massification of higher education systems has facilitated the participation of students from deprived backgrounds, socioeconomic inequalities persist in access to the most prestigious institutions and programmes. Privileged students benefit from a number of advantages in the competition for selective and scarce places: access to information, lower aversion to debt, higher expectations, better previous schooling and higher academic achievement. The chapters present a critical analysis of equity policies in different countries – with or without affirmative action policies, within a context of neoliberal policies or within a social democratic model – and the reasons why they have failed to promote equity and fairness, preventing students from achieving their full educational potential. This is an open access book.
